I'm a bit late to the party, but my thing I was looking forward too is in the past now as well anyway. I had a first shift with a new support worker and it went really well. Was a really chill first session. Showed her how to do a few different tasks, feed my dog breakfast, let my chooks out and feed them, both of which takes a lot of mental load off for me on days I have workers. Then we went to the local pool, felt safe in the women's changing rooms with her there, did hyrdro exercises in the hot therapy pool and noticed she has an ACAB stick and poke tattoo so that was really cool! Then we got in the spa for a soak afterwards, a dude sat really close to her (the spa wasn't empty otherwise or anything but still uncomfortably so). We were talking about queer politics and the recent Australian federal election and he made a really weird comment alone the lines of "Trump beat the leftists over there" when I was saying how the Greens candidate in my electorate was a trans woman. Here only 20% put first preferences for the two right-wing candidates, and the Greens candidate got 25%, so if he's right wing he's probably very salty no one cares. He also did the sign of the cross when he got out not long after?? Awkwarddd.
We got back to my place and I rested for a short bit, while she did some veggie prep for dinner for me. After that we changed my bedding and then talked a little before she finished for the day. I had a great time and looking forward to seeing her again soon. She's currently filling in for one of my other workers who's on an eight week holiday, but I might get her on regularly when that worker gets back. I have funding for three shifts a week but have only been using two for a while now. It's so hard to find good female workers that aren't already booked out, and that I vibe with. I can't do men in my private spaces, but it doesn't stop them from messaging me when I put ads up online that specifically say no men. Ugh!
I get to get more weed tomorrow, hopefully, so that'll be nice. Also we're going to the Asian market tomorrow maybe because we all want more ramen eggs so we need more ingredients for the marinade!
