Long term effects will be unknown until seen since there's about a million ways this could progress. But I'll make some guesses.
- American troubles: Not much to say on this one, it's entirely possible we could both large and small scale actions of sabotage, murder, and more generalized violence against the federal government, it's agents, and those who work with it.
- 2nd American civil war: This one would depend on what regions and even individuals turn on the feds, it could be a large scale war like the first American civil war or it could be smaller scale like Syria.
- Mass civil disobedience: This one is a bit more complex in how it could effect things but if folks stopped treating federal elements as anything effectively ignoring them it could cause serious damage. Similarly if states started backing such actions by creating tax chaos and taking actions to delegitimize USD and start fucking with interstate commerce it could cause serious problems.
Now I'm going to go back to being sick and randomly shooting liquid out of my ass.

Doesn't matter. Taco got back into office, and re-installed that little twerp Pee Wee German and that weird little asshole is fixated on getting brown people out of the country.
What "the public" may or may not want - Pee Wee German sure as hell does not care. That little freak is not going to be restrained by people not liking him, I bet he's quite used to people not liking him all of his life.
