Hi there,
I have been using Firefox since a long time with these extensions. Do you think if any of those are redundant? Why I ask this is that while using Outlook in Firefox, it's consuming around 1.7 GB of RAM. I don't think it should be using this much amount of RAM for just a single tab of Outlook.
Edit: I already use uBlock Origin, but it's not present in the attached pic.
I think Id swap the "i still dont care about cookies" with "consent-o-matic" to autodecline cookies and would add "ublock origin" (the second might help not load unecessary stuff)
I checked it out and the main culprit is the GPU usage. I made a performance profile for graphics and uploaded it to Mozilla's server for their review.
uBlock Origin should already remove cookies notice from sites, so I think "I still don't care aboht cookies" could be deleted. But that 1.7GB of RAM usage is probably not because of that addon.
Most of other addons I see should be domain specific, so they should not run on outlook for example.
Maybe on outlook page there is so much bloat that uBlock Origin blocks, which increases ram usage. Try taking a look at what uBlock is doing and maybe change its filters.
Edit: Knowing Microsoft tactics, try also changing useragent to Microsoft Edge, maybe they will be easier on usage.
Just wondering if you have gone to the uBlock Origin settings and looked at the filter lists. There's a section for 'annoyances' with some lists that are not turned on by default, which might eliminate the need for some of those extensions.
I don't use amazon and rarely see paywall's, plus i have a bookmark for the latter. The cookie and captcha stuff is mostly eliminated with the uBlock annoyances lists turned on. It fixes other youtube stuff too I think (I might be wrong) but I also limit my youtube usage heavily, if the channel has >100,000 subscribers or the video has >1 million views, I close the tab immediately, otherwise I end up in rabbit holes that are hard to escape.
I can't help with the extensions, but I will say Outlook is the hungriest tab on my machine. 850MB on startup with no extensions. So only about half of what you're seeing, but still way more than anything else I open.
Removing an extension should not have a huge impact on the RAM usage. I assume Outlook in the browser just requires a lot of RAM. Browsers and huge browser apps require ton of RAM, that sounds normal to me. Especially if you have lot of RAM, then Firefox will make use of that more, because a lot is available. That ensures a fast operation. Reducing the RAM usage might cause Firefox to cache data on the filesystem, then it will get slower, if it really needs that much RAM.
For testing purposes create a new fresh Firefox profile, which is basically what you get when you install Firefox new without your personal configuration and extensions. Try using Outlook in a fresh profile. Also try a different browser that is not based on Firefox (in example Brave) to see if it requires that much RAM too. This way we know if its because of the App, because of your profile or because of Firefox.
You could try disabling some extensions to see if there's a troublemaker. Alternatively, run Firefox in safe mode to see if it's your settings/extensions or the site itself
