What are some of the weirdest songs on your playlist?
"Weird" to be interpreted at the reader's discretion.
Looking for some cool new tunes.
I'll get the ball rolling with one of mine: Scaretale by Nightwish. That song is all over the place... it's like haunted fantasy carnival jingle metal. Love it.
He may be proving a point about phonemes and the general sounds of languages, and many others have made similar points as well. That doesn’t make it less weird to listen and try to understand the song as an actual speaker of the mimicked language. Especially if it just shows up on your playlist and you tell your friends it’s just some obscure Elvis song.
Country Death Song by the Violent Femmes. It's banjos and a proper upbeat hoe-down vibe alongside lyrics talking about crushing poverty and killing one of your children so you can afford to feed the others and ends with the narrator hanging themselves. It's bleak as fuck and very not my normal jam, but somehow it grew on me and I love it.
Bonus: Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult. Just a song about Godzilla smashing up Tokyo set to some pretty fun music.
but I’m pretty sure they are not OP is asking for…

I figure the odds of any one comment here aligning with my personal taste are pretty low; but the goal was to stick my head out of that bubble for a bit, and y'all have delivered! It's been fun checking out everyone's recommendations, even if they aren't being added to my own playlists.
Random smattering of Eurovision picks, Who The Hell is Edgar by Teya and Salena (Austria) is a hilarious banger and commentary on Spotify profits to artists. Also, No Rules by Windows95man was pure brilliance.
Power metal classics and a few covers of 80s hits.
TV theme songs, but the full full 3-4 minute song.
Weird Al's Hamilton Polka is top tier.
Plus some Disco era A and B sides, West African old school "palm wine music," songs from a few musicals including the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode.
This bluegrass band who covers pop music tunes called the Cleverlys, and their rendition of the song Low. Shawty got them apple bottomed jeans and the boots with the fur is hilarious with a banjo and stand up bass.
My taste in music is dictated entirely by whether or not I think a song is fun to sing. I keep everything in one eclectic super playlist. These are a few of the songs I’ll skip if I have normal people in my car, so they’re a bit weird or at least have an uncommon sound/vibe.
“Tagga” by Kluben
“Escargot” by Jarv
“The Cult of Dionysus” by The Orion Experience
“Savages” and “Charlie’s Inferno” by That Handsome Devil
Dog Fashion Disco. I call it Circus-core. It's too dark and offensive to be taken seriously by most people, but it's got some good music behind it. And I once got to see them in a bar with a $10 cover. Fantastic show!
Fuck, I've got so many weird ones that I can't nearly shoehorn enough of them in here without writing a laundry list. If you want a band that's done solid work top-to-bottom for decades though, take a look at the Melvins.
