There's also been some talk among the devs about the situation that CarbonPixel has compiled here:

This is great timing I’m getting ready to abandon my Windows VM and move entirely to Linux. Will have to take a look and see if I can get SC up and running. Even running within a VM took some fiddling to pass EAC…
