I understand your frustration. I really do. Nobody likes to get tickets. But I think it's better for everyone to ensure people respect driving rules. Driving isn't a game. It requires discipline and focus. Red light cameras are a fine on those who don't pay enough attention / break the law.
The cost of repairing their car from an accident won't stop them, a ticket won't either. All it does is punish local drivers making moves that no actual officer would actually ticket for (like turning right on a red with no pedestrians present).
