Because holy fuck that's a lot of money.
How We're Doing It Responsibly
We''re not. We're just trying to cash in and pretend we're not going to take advantage of people with poor impulse control.
So we’ve established at the onset that Riot-owned broadcast and social channels will stay betting-free, which means no ads, no sponsored segments from betting partners, and no betting partner logos on team jerseys
Good, as it should be.
No mention of age controls, and I'm sure it'll be the scummiest of gambling companies (tautology?) that signup for this.
Riot has a lot of children who play their games, this is a really disappointing decision from them.
- Call it bad faith, but I literally don't believe them. They can say it but that doesn't make it true. Why would anyone trust these companies? Their goal is to get you physically addicted to gambling. It is every company's wet dream to get kids addicted to their product and leeh off their income for the rest of their lives.
  I bet we'll see all of those things - the ads, the sponsors, the jerseys, all of it - within a year of this program going live.
  
  100% agree, this is probably a soft launch so they can go hard later.
  Super scummy.
- They want to be a sport and betting on high-level sports is quite common.
  
  Smoking is also quite common, it still harmful.
  Betting isnt required for sport, millions of kids manage to play sports without betting.
They see all the money Valve and EA is making on gambling, they’d be stupid not to try it too.
Mainstream betting has already gone too far even within the betting laws. There is no way to do it responsibly
