Why don't we just have a matriarchy?
Cause then the power players would pander to them instead.
It's not because they're men, it's because men just happened to have the highest amount of inherent social power for centuries/millennia. If women have more inherent social power, they get pandered to instead.
The pandering is the problem, not the gender.
