Europe does not care about american politics as much as americans like to think we do. Not everyone associates trump with nazi instantly. I do not want to attribute to being a nazi something that can be explained by willingness to make an extremely crass joke.

That's not true in my experience. General rule of thumb in the places I've lived and visited seems to be everyone cares about their own politics and American politics.

I have seen this before. Complete with USA-built truck. I cannot fathom how people in Europe do this. Sure, we* happily lap up every bit of American culture we can get our hands on, but this makes me question that person's sanity.
