What happened to Vegantheoryclub?

Not a fan of it by any means, but it shit down ~11 days ago and no one mentioned it.

Since lemmy posts are links, every image post is now that image.

The admin (local account on lemm.ee https://lemm.ee/u/hamid@vegantheoryclub.org ) said it was because of the harassment culture on lemmy (https://lemm.ee/post/64686772 ), and blamed sunshine and beaver for doing something? (https://lemm.ee/post/63664605/20610349 -- the post this is in reply to is gone, but the comment is in the local copy of the person's profile.)

Anyone know what happened?

  I mean it's a pretty influential instance since that's where the lead developers reside. It would be pretty normal for everyone using lemmy to have them "live rent free in their heads"

  Why was the admin annoyed at you? At most you did some mild critisism of the instance, unless I missed out on something.
I took it down because I couldn't find an admin to take it over. The admin I appointed to didn't stick with Lemmy, because Lemmy is wack.
Every time I would participate I would be thought-policed by an unhinged stalker @Sunshine@lemmy.ca and I am grew tired of being followed and am extremely angry and upset about this thread.
I am sending DMCA/GDPR/PIPEDA requests now to all the Lemmy admins and the Internet archive to purge the data from Vegan Theory Club.
Sunshine is unhinged. She disagreed with my request for feedback about defederating from SJW and decided to use an alt to post about me in tankiejerk - we didn't actually end up defederating.
She then spent months following me around different parts of lemmy screenshotting me to post in harassment communities like meanwhileongrad and this community to police my thought crimes. She goes on to manipulate the threads and the votes in these threads using an army of alts, many were pulled by a python script I wrote to get the communities they mod and look at the other moderators and tying them to the voting accounts.

While doing this she created alts like aqua@vegantheoryclub.org and aqua@lemmy.vg to participate in my communities anyway after being banned.
Its creepy as fuck, so by the time I finally had enough of Lemmy I wrote a "pro hamas" post on a week old thread to see if they were still following me around to post on the various lemmy harassment communities and within one hour they posted it to meanwhileongrad. By the way, they are talking to themselves on that same comm here posting with their alts https://lemm.ee/post/65494823/20832743 this behavior is weird and unsettling.

I will not use this account again, I have moved on from Lemmy but this was brought to my attention. I would like this thread to be removed and I am asking the admins of lemmy.ca @Shadow@lemmy.ca to please remove this post. I do not want this to continue. I do not want users psychoanalyzing me. I am sorry that I, an Iranian born mizrahi, doesn't have right-think for the users of Lemmy. I regret using Lemmy and being subject to the culture of bullying and harassment here. I may say and think things that aren't approved by American western chauvinists, I do not deserve to be followed around, screenshotted and mocked because of wrong-think. If this is how Lemmy is, I want no part of it.
Feel free to write whatever harassment you want here. I will not be reading this again. I hope this thread is removed and I would like to exercise my rights to be forgotten or at the very least not highlighted and harassed by lemmy users. I do not have any other alts or use Lemmy anymore. I have a job, family and real-life friends to occupy myself with. Good bye.

tl;dr: he was sick of getting into lemmy drama
- I don't blame them, lemmy drama is shockingly toxic as hell. I don't blame them removing the instance and retiring as admin.

Admin always wanted it to be a small instance for friends, he was pushed into federating by sunshine, who is beaver and several others as well by my understanding. Then the political situation in the US continued deteriorating, and between the risks, the stalking, and all the general harassment that comes from operating a public vegan community he saw no benefits to keeping it up and shut it down.

- I think all of you are just alt accounts from one and the same person who initially wanted to make Lemmy look more populated to draw in more users. But with time sanity went belly up and now the split personalities are fighting against each other.
  This is already confirmed and well-established by how they all talk the same.
