I'll be having facial feminization surgery on my lower third of my face. Let me know if you have any questions or just want to chat.
Edit: I am now squirrel. 🥜
I'm assuming it'll be worse than my forehead, but fingers crossed. I don't do well with pain and my FFS on my forehead shockingly went above a 2 out of 10 for pain without meds.
So I asked my trans care doctor about ffs and set up an appointment with the surgeon over a year ago, going over what could happen, what to expect, his methodology, etc.
The surgeon I saw does it in a 3 phase manner: top, bottom, and then the middle to allow even healing. Made sense to me.
This also worked with my life since I had minimal PTO to take and was worried about taking long term breaks from roller derby.
The forehead was done first in April of this year. After having a scan of my skull done and a 9-camera photo of my face, they found that a grafting of the sinus cavity did not need to be done and could "grind down" the forehead to achieve the results
Huh, that's really interesting. I wasn't sure what all they could do. I feel like I have a really square jaw that my beard helped hide. And once I started my acceptance journey, I shaved it off and got really confused because I felt like I looked even more masculine. But I can't handle having a beard anymore so I've been trying to just deal with it. I think I'm getting used to it now that it's been a few weeks and I'm not "moving my face weird" anymore like my wife was saying lol.
Did you get an idea of how you would look after all the surgeries? Like, did they show you an approximation of how you would look?
This is still all new for me, so I know basically nothing at the moment 😅
