FAA funding cuts: hold my beer. 🍺
Odds don't mean shit when you win the die in a fireball lottery. Odds are zero if you don't play.
Flying? In this economy?
Was on a plane for the first time a couple years ago for my honeymoon.
Likely going to be for the last time, given every time I get a raise, the price of everything fucking triples.
There is also the comic version from Alarmingly Bad.
In USA this is not much comfort, shootings every hour and shit
Just to point out, but the last time we had a scandal about a plane that kills people, it's safety record was about the same as riding a motorcycle in city transit (AKA, one of the most dangerous things people actually do).
Just because the average is very low, it doesn't mean whatever problem people are pointing isn't an issue.
Every time you enter a car there is a higher chance of "will I die during this trip" than when you enter a plane.
Yes the "chance to survive a plane crash" is lower than the "chance to survive a car crash" but the chance to ever be in a plane crash is incredibly low, even when you factor in the number of cars vs number of planes etc.
I don't think you understand statistics...
Also, you're more likely to survive in the back of the plane versus the front.
wouldn't that achieve the opposite?
edit: ah, that's the joke. woosh.
No. We can change it to waaaaay way way lower chances.
