Tesla sales plummet 80.7% in Sweden amid Elon Musk backlash
Tesla has faced a similar slide in sales elsewhere in Europe as people protest against CEO Musk.
Autos trade group Mobility Sweden said new vehicle registrations of Tesla models were down 80.7% in April amid a backlash against the political activity of CEO Elon Musk.
Tesla registrations were 203 in April, down from 1,052 a year before.
It was one of the worst-performing automakers for the month in the Nordic country, and sat in contrast to an overall 11% rise in new passenger vehicle registrations to 24,292.
Polestar Automotive, a Swedish electric automaker and one of Tesla's competitors, saw its sales hit 535 in April, an 11.5% increase.
Yet tesla stock goes up. LOL.

when you short, you sell someone else’s shares that you don’t own with a promise to buy them back at whatever it costs when you exit your position

I was going to buy a Tesla in 2021, the only reason I didn't was I needed a car immediately and they had a several month waiting list. If it had been available, I would've taken it. Even test drove one. Now, I will never buy a Tesla. I would rather have a Rivian anyway.
I even bought LOL-GAS personalized plates, in anticipation of buying a Tesla, but that aint happening now. I still have the plates, though, so maybe one day they'll adorn a Chinese EV...
Yet the stock has jumped like 50% while every single indicator is red.
I can't believe it will last. Bubble has to pop. International sales in the toilet, Cybertruck failing, domestic sales down, supply chains in shock from tariff chaos, and on top of it all, it's PE ratio makes no sense compared to all other manufacturers.
The entire stock price is based on nothing but Elon Musk and the world is starting to look at him as an idiot.

I lived in the American South, I find this to be much more to my liking as the smiling faces seem less likely to be covering deep, hateful racism looking for an excuse to resort to violence.

Tesla has and is doing exactly what Musk said the goal was for Tesla, long ago. To spur EV sales for other competitors, since Tesla could never meet a full market demand. Congrats Elon, you not only did that, you've backed away to give everyone a bigger share of the market. You genius.

i was looking at BYD EVs this week, they seem alright? even tho they are mega tariffed
My biggest issue with BYD would be maintenance in my location. I got dealers for American, Japanese, but nothing for anything Chinese. My normal independent shop I use doesn't want to touch our hybrid either.

As far as I know, there's fundamentally no particular moral imperative not to buy Tesla -- except for Musk. They should chuck him.
- Elon and his brother hold most of the stock. He does not need to be the CEO to control Tesla and profit directly.
- Tesla are garbage cars that keep getting people killed and injured, even getting trapped and burnt to death inside.
- Tesla commits odometer fraud to avoid honoring warranties they sold to their customers.
- Other automakers who have been building cars for decades longer than Tesla have superior electric vehicle offerings, and much cheaper prices.
- Tesla committed rebate fraud in Canada.
- Teslas are one of the most expensive vehicles to insure, because they break down and malfunction at higher rates than other comparable vehicles.
I could go on and on and on, but the above alone should be sufficient.
