The fact that I’m wondering if it serious or a joke, is worrisome…
36 0 ReplyIt's definitely a joke or some sort of weird art statement, the only thing that bothers me is that I once got my decade-old account banned from LinkedIn for posting a job that they decided was discriminatory because it had a language requirement, and yet somehow this has passed their filters?
6 0 ReplyYou say definitely but it could be serious. In China there are people who pay to work, to avoid being « flagged » as unemployed, which apparently is worse than paying for a fake job.

68 0 ReplyIs shit like this counted when they list the number of open job in the country?
229 0 ReplyKnowing how backwards things are here, yeah probably
84 0 ReplyAlmost certainly, they're counting on their "audits" consisting of a script that looks for "$500 per week" in the descriotion to confirm that they're posting ads.
21 0 ReplyYes, that's the point.

Apply just to not pay and have the position terminated
42 0 ReplyJoin, pay, request chargeback from your card company.
When they dispute it: “The position clearly says unpaid. So I won’t pay.”
Use AI to expand this argument to 10 pages. Bonus points for citing nonexistent court decisions.
106 0 ReplyBonus points for citing nonexistent court decisions.
That comes for free with using an LLM to make the argument.
29 0 ReplyAlso bonus times for writing those prompts on company time.

Amateurs. Just call the weekly fee tuition, the position a research assistant, and the company a university and they are all set.
76 0 ReplyHey, sorry overworked employees. I posted an ad to fill a position so we have enough wiggle room to let you breathe for once, but no one applied. Well, back to work!
67 0 ReplyGetting really nervous when my office computer sign-on keeps prompting me to enter my credit card information.
89 0 ReplyPlease report for organ harvesting on Thursday at nine.
41 0 ReplyScheduling conflict. Can we do chloroform at lunch instead?
13 0 ReplyBut it’s casual dress, and there’s a pizza party afterward!

49 0 ReplySounds illegal.
54 0 ReplyEverytime I hear about the need to pay to do a job, my mind immediately jumps to pyramid scheme.
11 0 ReplyIf you need to pay for something, it is a huge red flag.

Does whatever country this is posted from not have a minimum wage? Screenshot says USA, I thought they did have one?
3 0 ReplyYes, but since volunteering is a thing, they may think they're in the clear. Doubt they are though.

Is this....
Violence?
28 0 ReplyUnless there's actual hidden value here (possible), it's more like a joke. Chickens rarely cross the road and they're not getting paid.

I get that the glib answer will be "so they can make money"
But what is the actual thought process they are pretending to go through here? Cause the experience of being a prompt engineer is not some sought after experience like how people pay to be movie PAs for free or work as an artist assistant.
31 0 ReplyThat people would be so excited to "get their foot in the door of th prompt engineering job market" that theyd pay for the opportunity
8 0 ReplySomeone posted above that this was from a couple years ago and done as a test to see who would respond to this type of ad sort of thing.

Just change your company name to be [actual company name] dba AI Prompt Engineer College, call this a class, done.
17 0 ReplyCross posting this to shitty million dollar ideas. This is the kind of out of the box thinking that we need to increase corporate profits and pump up those numbers. You are a real go getter here. good job.
20 0 ReplyI wonder if this job is targeted to a specific person so that the person it's for will apply, but no one else will
11 0 ReplyLink so I can apply?
13 0 Replyyeah itd be a shame if they got flooded with bs applications
7 0 ReplyNot OP but pretty sure it's this one. Good luck!

Besides the obvious ripoff, is there some sort of fraudulent or tax reason why they would make the employee pay for it?
11 0 ReplyMaybe so you can hire people from overseas?

big brain move
10 0 ReplyDream job for the employer, that is.
7 0 ReplyJust put me through 4 years of a paid training position instead of University already. Finding a job has been shit because of lack of experience.
6 0 ReplyIts also shit with experience. Just apply to literally everything and hope something in the salary range you want reaches out.
