What makes a good karaoke song is based on your audience. It should be something you think many of the people in the room would know, and could maybe sing along to. It doesn't have to be a song they consciously like, just know. Most of the time not too slow. You see too many people getting up and doing something that's technically impressive but not enjoyable for the audience, like a deep cut from a musical.
I personally have a strong leaning towards rock music groups from the 90s to 00s ish. Such as "Linkin Park" and "Papa Roach". I also like newer bands such as "Starset" and "Project Vela". I just can't do the screaming parts haha.
Random side note: And... if I could stop being lazy maybe I'll make more karaoke videos on YouTube haha. (I try to make ones for my favorite songs that don't have karaoke videos for it yet.)
If you're not a good singer: Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind. It's fast enough that you should know the words without reading them, but it's pretty much talk-singing and doesn't require much vocal range. For the doo-doo-doo part, it's pretty high but everyone will sing along with it.
Also Say it Ain't So by Weezer will get the whole bar clapping and stomping and signing along.
