As a Finn I find it to be a fucking disgrace. Then again, considering it's the guy who during the presidential campaign prioritized connections with American CEOs over diplomats, I am unsurprised.

Absolutely makes sense. As much as we wish for the opposite, we are dependent on the US for many years. It's strategically the best thing to do. I do not doubt the Fins disagree with US politics very much, but from their position in these times it is best to tell Trump what a great guy he is.
From Trump‘s (questionable) world view, Finland is not an enemy. They heavily invested in their own military and didn‘t have a negative export balance with the US.
