Oil and gas CEOs ask Ottawa to use emergency powers to speed key projects
In an open letter to the political leaders, the CEOs of 10 of the largest oil and natural gas companies and the four largest pipeline companies outlined their plan to strengthen Canadian economic sovereignty.
The energy executives called for a simplification of regulation and a commitment to firm deadlines for project approvals.
They also want an elimination of the federal government's cap on emissions, the repeal of the federal carbon levy on large emitters and loan guarantees to help Indigenous co-investment opportunities.

Absolutely, they've been trying this line from the start of the tariffs and think that they can repaint pipelines to the US as patriotic.
Please see through this bullshit and reject their narrative. Canada can be strong without needing to be a petrol state.

We must stop the fossil fuel industry.
We can make a consideration for any plan that has research to back them turning significant profits within five years, as it is doubtful that any such plans will be profitable 20 years down the line.
And of course, those profits will be taxed severely since we know any such plans will be quite disruptive to the environment, and none of these companies will clean up their own messes, so the government will have to do the job. Might as well force them to pay for it ahead of time, and maybe some extra on the side that'll go to critical public services like transit or healthcare.
Without such guarantees? F-them.
