Pissed At What Chuck Just Got Through? Call Your Senators (if Dems) and Tell Them to Remove Him From Senate Leadership
House dems are PISSED at what Schumer just did. This is the case where outside voices are maximally helpful - when people on the inside of the party want him out. Let's build continued pressure. This will not happen overnight, it will happened when we keep the pressure consistently high
I can’t find a list of the ten democratic senators that voted no. Can someone help me out?
Found them:
In addition to Schumer, nine other Democrats voted to advance the bill: Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, Gary Peters of Michigan, Brian Schatz of Hawaii, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Angus King, a Maine independent who caucuses with Democrats.
I assume you mean voted yes to allow the bill to advance. Voting no didn't allow the bill to advance. Here's all of the dems who yes to allow it through cloture and their publicly listed contacts
to clarify for others, Angus King is technically an independent but caucuses with dems. Kind of like what Bernie does (except Bernie has a spine and didn't vote for cloture here)
Keep in mind Dem leadership in the house is pissed. Pelosi publicly told senate dems to "listen to the women" and named a senator calling for voting no on cloture. House leaders can pressure senators and the public going along with it makes their case easier
Plus there were plenty of people that flipped on this very bill because of the public pressure. It wasn't enough to block it in this particular case, but we came rather close. They had to delay the vote for like 4 hours because they didn't have the votes assured
We can build sustained pressure. It's not going to happen overnight but it can happen. Calling is step 1
Call and give 'em hell for voting for cloture. (Though don't like yell at the staffer who may not agree with the senator. They will tally it the same either regardless of being nice or mean). Make them feel the pressure of their vote. Make them think sticking with Trump is getting to be a worse idea for their own political sake. Republicans can still be influenced on occasion.
Rand Paul managed to vote no. For bad reasons mind you, but he did vote no
