Anyone know where FlyingSquid went?
Anyone know where FlyingSquid went?
Dude was like a pillar of the lemmy community and I believe a mod as well. I haven't seen him in weeks. Hopefully he's doing ok.
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world
You never know what's happening in folks' real life.
Real life happens, often so seriously and so fast that you don't have time or effort to post online for significant stretches.
Hell, he might even be in the hospital, he had a history of difficult medical issues.
We can always hope for the best of the folks we lose track of online, but it's not unlike that meme about your old gaming friends.
Here's hoping everything is going okay not just for @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world but for everyone who disappears from our community.

Probably busing after relocating to the UK
51 0 ReplyBusing? I think you'll find our public transport is exemplary.

Well, he moved here to the UK but we ain't eaten him or nuthin'.
49 0 ReplyThat's an odd statement to make out of nowhere. What did you have him with?
27 0 ReplyWell, we call them broad beans. And a nice chianti.Er.
Did I mention before that I'm a vegan? I subsist on a diet of Gregg's vegan sausage rolls, plastic shoes, and smug self-satisfaction. Definitely not squid, flying or otherwise.
18 0 ReplyCaptain Blackadder did not eat this delicious plump-breasted

a pillar of the lemmy community
A negative one that brought only Reddit energy and vibe to this place
30 0 ReplyYeah I didn't know he was gone, I blocked him awhile ago for being a complete fucking dick.
17 0 ReplySame. I contacted him during his recent online mental crisis. He never wrote back so I took a few minutes to check his post history to see if he was alive. Dude is toxic AF. I added him to my block list shortly thereafter.

FS was the most annoying reddit person on here, besides maybe PugJesus.

"How can anybody eat at a time like this? The FlyingSquid is missing! Bush, SEARCH PARTY of three!"
20 0 ReplyGood? He was a huge asshole, who regularly banned people for disagreeing with him or his extreme bullshit views. He was also famous for trying to lord over people about being a mod if losing a discussion...
19 0 ReplyHis instance .world has some strict/stupid rules, which he did enforce. I didn't like it either but instead of blaming the messenger I simply left .world.
8 0 ReplyNo he would literally bias ban just like jonsjava and most of .world.
He wasn't just a messenger he would get into an argument, start to lose then ban and remove.
I hope they're ok like most people but they were kind of a petty asshole at times.

Lemmy is better without FS on it because FS made every topic either slightly better, or more toxic.

18 0 ReplyDude escaped fasclsm! I am both proud and envious! God speed!
22 0 ReplyKnow what. I was never a big fan of how they interacted and conducted themselves on Lemmy, but reading that gave me a little more respect for the guy.

It's been quite peaceful actually
17 0 ReplyThis subject was brought up earlier this week on the Star Trek shitposting community that they frequented. No definitive answer.
15 0 ReplyI blocked them a long time ago. I didn't even notice that they were gone.
14 0 ReplyDude tried to ban me for saying Bibi was abusing the Jewish faith to genocide Muslims.
Idk about fuck him entirely, but I didn't need his Zionist ass in my feed.

Anyone making 10 posts a day for over a year should probably definitely take a step back from lemmy
9 0 ReplyHe joined in June '23 after the reddit API debacle, along with many of us. 4610 posts + 67178 comments over 20 months comes out to 120 posts and comments per day, every day, for over a year and a half. A true addict, one that puts the rest of us addicts to shame.
