It's like if, say, Unilever bought out a company and then released a statement saying "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs will stay free of woke mRNA vaccine"
No, but 007 was a woman in no time to die, so this statement also implies it'll be a reboot that's not canon with the Craig era.
007 can be anyone. James Bond should have relatively consistent features since it's a character from a book series.
If you want to put a new character in the James Bond franchise but not makes them James Bond, there's little to argue against that. I just dont see any upside to leashing yourself to that franchise if you want to make something different. The audience won't be there. It wasn't there for Ghostbusters.
