Ohio enacts 'shameful' 'Don't Say Gay' bill as Gov. Mike DeWine signs
  • Historically, this is an indicator that Mike DeWine is himself involved in some degenerate acts that he's ashamed of, and doesn't want anyone to be able to talk about. Keep an eye out for any "protect the children" rhetoric from this one. ¤.¤

  • I met someone who had this tattooed
  • I think anywhere we still use butter is still great. It's where we replaced it with the "various hydrogenated oils of mysterious origin" that we lost our way. Once we could no longer believe it wasn't butter, we lost the plot.

  • I'm in the same boat. They've all been good. I didnt hear about this one before stumbling on it last night and my wife and I laughed for like 5 minutes with it paused once we saw the show title and understood what it was.

We feel that this show will be more enjoyable, the more familiar you are with the genre as a whole. Similar to how One Punch Man benefited from already having a high exposure to super hero/kaijin materials.

  • Solidigm pulls out of consumer SSD market with discontinuation of drives
  • Literally never heard of them. With all the random bullshit companies dumping crap into the market, if you don't have good name recognition these days, it's just assumed you are some random Chinese product clone with dubious quality.

This is fine when I purchased my knockoff Dyson vacuum that still works great, but I wouldn't trust all my data to a company I dont recognize.

  • Politics
  • Kinda oddly, I see it done most organically in animation vs live action. Steven Universe is a good example of a show where alot of issues are addressed by main cast and not just a token LGBTQ character that dissappears after their 1 episode about tolerance.

Examples of random, throw away, characters are harder to remember examples for as they are never important to the story.

  • Politics
  • I disagree with several premises. I wouldn't want my children's shows to shoehorn in messages. If it makes sense in the plot for the characters to have and voice an opinion, or if it's a cleverly written allegory, then that's great. If they are just creating a character for the exclusive purpose of pushing an agenda (even one I agree with) it's annoying.

Whenever someone says "people doing X, are the same people doing Y." You're witnessing some broad sweeping generalizations that are usually just the writers opinions. You can just remove the X statement.

I don't like when protesters block my road on the way to work, or shove pictures of dead children in people's faces, but I still can agree with protests against wars etc. Not liking the mode of messaging doesn't equate to disallowing the massage and that's fair. Personally, I encourage people to disrupt the actual power structure in place instead of the general population, but that's just me.

  • U.S. dietary guidelines should emphasize beans and lentils as protein, new proposal says
  • I'm not vegan and I agree completely. It's totally obvious meat is a good protein source. What people need to be shown are inexpensive, easy, proteins needed to balance a diet. My meat intake naturally declined the more I learned to cook and educated myself on nutrition and other ingredients. The US dietary guidelines should always be encouraging inexpensive and sustainable sources of nutrition. Beef and chicken doesnt need any help getting the word out.

  • CEO murder reveals simmering anger with American health care system
  • I wish there was no cause for insurance at all. Cremation should be free and a component of end of life care. The fact that dental and vision aren't a part of Healthcare is actually absurd. Auto insurance should be inexpensive and all about property.

  • Trump considers privatizing US Postal Service, Washington Post reports
  • Shipping would get soooo expensive. I ship all over the US and the pricing from UPS and FedEx stays competitive with USPS, and often USPS will do the last mile delivery in more rural zones. If you remove the limiting price point that the USPS provides to the market, these private shippers will raise prices so high, so fast, it'll make your head spin.

The margins these companies are willing to charge an individual is actually obscene. I ship pallets every so often, so I have a FedEx freight shipping contract. It discounts my freight costs ~90%. For anyone without a business and no contract they're happy to charge you 10x more they need to. They profit off the price they charge me, they rake you over the coals because they can. If they have more opportunities to do that, they will.

  • There’s Some Nuance, But in Effect.
  • It's true in some states but also not relevant in many ways. It was a largely cash based society. My grandmother had a bank account prior to WW2 as a young adult in Idaho. Usually the stores kept a leger or tab and you would come pay that off in person with cash in hand at the end of the month. Your bank wasn't needed unless you were getting a loan or had such large assets it would be dangerous to travel with it.

  • Scalper economy
  • There are as many houses as people want but not all the the quality or location they want. Manufactured homes can be dropped on lots for a fraction of the price. People live in the central valley and commute so they can have a home for much less. The world will never have everything everyone wants the way they want it. Thats not this world.

  • Has anyone else noticed Zip-locks have changed?

I've noticed that every product I've bought in the past year with a zip-lock seal is destroyed with common use. I actually think the zip-lock itself has gotten stronger. The bag rips before the seal opens on half the bags now and whenever I try to opens bags I had no issues with before, I find myself stretching/warping the plastic before the seal eventually opens.

It's pretty frustrating and I am seeing it across many products. Cheese bags, storage bags, snacks etc...
