A silent Trump watched on as the blow-up dragged on for an uncomfortably long time, according to a report.
Summary
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Elon Musk engaged in a heated exchange during a closed-door Cabinet meeting, with Musk accusing Rubio of firing "nobody" from his department.
Rubio angrily responded by citing 1,500 State Department staff who took early retirement and sarcastically asked if Musk wanted to rehire them just to fire them again.
The argument, which also involved Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy over FAA management. Duffy complained DOGE’s youngsters were trying to fire air traffic controllers, which Musk responded was a “lie.”
Following the meeting, Trump announced on Truth Social that future DOGE cuts would use a "scalpel" rather than a "hatchet.
Yes, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, has initiated significant changes within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including the dismissal of numerous air traffic controllers and safety officials.
Key Developments:
February 5, 2025: Following a mid-air collision over the Potomac River, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced DOGE's intervention in the FAA to "upgrade our aviation system." Elon Musk emphasized plans to implement "rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system."
February 17, 2025: Reports confirmed that Elon Musk authorized the termination of hundreds of FAA safety officials. David Spero, President of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, criticized these actions, highlighting potential national safety risks.
Additionally, SpaceX employees were assigned to the FAA's Air Traffic Control System Command Center, raising concerns about conflicts of interest due to ongoing disputes between Musk's companies and the FAA.
These measures have sparked debates regarding the implications for air traffic safety and the potential conflicts arising from Musk's dual roles in private aerospace ventures and federal oversight.
hahah I just copied the same paragraph to paste here. This is painful to read and even more painful to consider the problem solving skills and intellectual level of this man who is ruling one of the strongest countries in the world with an iron fist.
My brother is an Air Traffic Controller and we were talking about this earlier. New ATCs have months of training where they get paid terribly and have to live in Oklahoma City. Nowadays they don't even get to choose exactly where they'll work afterwards. There are some classes that graduate and then have to pick between something like working in San Juan or Oakland. And then their pay is also shit for a year or two until they fully qualify.
Could you imagine going to MIT, then saying "yeah I'll take a job that pays $14 an hour training to live in Oklahoma. Then I'll let you roll the dice and send me to live in Southern California and try to live off $36,000 a year. Or you know... I can just go take a job wherever the fuck I want as an MIT grad and get paid 6 figures right out the gate."
Video would be great to illustrate the complete incompetence of these people. They're literally all trying to figure this out as it happens, have no idea wtf they are doing, and millions of people are already affected.
They're not trying to figure it out as they go, they've drank the coolaid.
Musk and Trump were born into financial empires, everything they do fails but the people scrambling to pick up the pieces behind them got them huge wins and minimized loses
After a lifetime of this, their arrogance has grown to the point they've seen the people cleaning up after them as an obstacle. And now they've successfully found cultists willing to carry out their orders directly without question, there's no longer layers of people saying "boss is demanding this, how can we make it not disasterous?"
More than anything, they just seem confused why people are getting so angry at them for doing what they've always done more effectively
No, clowns are supposed to be funny and enjoyable for everyone. There is nothing funny or enjoyable about any of this. The US is being run into the ground by absolute fucking psychopaths and more than half the country is applauding it whilst simultaneously burying their head in the sand.
It’s only as official as is legal. If not “it’s just a joke bro” they can issue a single email or statement that shows just enough that it’s a joke bro and can’t be prosecuted. “I changed my mind so I can’t be prosecuted for anything I’ve done…”
Take them to court? Well there’s that one statement that it’s not real… such that a years worth of ACTION doesn’t count.
I think it is reasonable not to want to wait until mid-terms. Given my location and familial duties, I don't think I can effectively protest, but I agree with the efforts of people that choose to.
Given the utter incompetence on display so far, I at least don't think the Trump administration will be able to do away with or ignore the mid-term results. That said, unless the mid-term results are truly impressive, I don't think a (third) impeachment will result in an end to the Trump administration and the beginning of a Vance one.
