I had a BMW for a long time, and i was really quite the anti BMW driver, at least if you care what redditors say. I never rewlly understood the whole car cliché thing, BUT, fuck me i hate tesla drivers. Somehow they are always on their phones. Like phone on their head, not with the fancy bordcomputer. Definitely doable outside the USA. For example, the Toyota HiLux is pretty popular in Australia and other countries, and starts at AU$27k (US$16.7k) drive away (including all fees and taxes).
A lot of other countries have cheap cars that can't be purchased in the USA, usually due to high tariffs. The most popular EV brand (BYD) isn't available in the USA, but in Australia you can get a pretty decent entry-level EV (BYD Dolphin), better quality than a Tesla Model 3, for around US$18k.

Theoretically the contents of these lots would be insured, so if there was a sudden unexpected fire that happened to destroy all the cars Tesla gets a cash payout, unlike if they just sit there where Tesla has to take the cashflow hit of having paid to build cars that noone will buy

A vehicle (according to their website) that is 61k base, 81k for awd (2024) and 81k base (2025) to 101k (loaded) is 10% or less of a discount. If it's a sliding scale and you don't get that "up to" 6k unless Loaded, that is barely over 5%.
Maybe videogame economies have spoiled my idea of "discounts" and pricing of real items but "priced to sell" means better than hearing 95% of normal. I couldn't say what dealers actually call fair when it comes to actually selling cars in this bracket for a profit but 25% might get sales moving again. (It works for home appliances, why not cars?).
I watch the carwow channel on YouTube (online car buying platform that does car reviews and drag races), and ofter you can get a 6k discount on a 30k car. For an 80k car it's quite "meh", specially for something so polarizing.
In the case it wasn’t even a Tesla car, they range from $80-100k USD, with discount and tax credit it goes for $67-87k USD.

I drove one at an ev drive event, and I actually thought it drove interestingly. It was different from other vehicles and I didn't mind driving it.
On the other hand, the panels that make it up look like something I made in my garage with some stainless plate and a plasma cutter. It looked very "kit car" when you got up close to it. I can appreciate a hobbyist welding plate together to make things but one would assume Tesla should have at least a waterjet cutter to produce clean edges.

It's similar to the problem AMC had with the Pacer... revolutionary automotive design and in the first year it did amazing! Then, in the next two to three years, demand dropped like a rock. Seemed as though everyone that wanted a car which looked like really nothing else on the road had already bought one in the first year.
Except that, while it was certainly a radical departure from the norm, it was hardly a revolutionary design, and first year sales were terrible. Once the handful of Elon fans with too much money on their hands got their pre-orders, sales were abysmal.
