Yep, this is the right answer. The wealthy would love us to use any division (including us vs. the state) to distract us from the war they've been waging on us for decades.
One of the greatest "achivements" of Neoliberalism was to indoctrinate into people the idea that the only Power is the State, even whilst they made sure in most of the World that Money was a far stronger Power than the State.
The way of think of old was far more about how common people need to have Power to face other kinds of Power, and whilst, granted, it led to the fuckups such as the Dictatorship Of The Proletariat (self described as "Communist") countries and Fascism, it's also the basis for replacing the Monarchy first with Republicanism and later with Democracy so that every citizen has, through the vote, a measure of control on how the Power of the State is used (exactly the Power-for-everybody that Neoliberalism activelly undermined in favor of the power of Money, by pressing for the State to exercise as little power as possible when it comes to any area were Money has power)
So what the OP posted is just another piece of anti-Democratic propaganda, shaped to appeal to Leftwingers but, none the less, designed to reinforce the idea that the State is the only Power and that it oppresses the many, whilst activelly hiding the present day reality that the State has way less power than Money and the oppression exercised via the State is entirelly Money using it as a puppet.

Democratic socialism was a really great dream many of us had before our country began deteriorating. It's still a great vision.

Widespread corruption (and the capture of the mechanisms of the State by Money) is the natural end result of Capitalism.
It's hilarious the idea that in a Society were one's Wealth is the greatest metric of one's worth as an individual, treatment of people is openly and to a huge extent discriminatory based on Wealth and were Greed is hailed as a quality ("Greed is good"), those holding positions with power in the Judiciary and the State - thus having far more power than the common citizens - would be a special kind of people not at all be driven by Greed or possible to buy with Money, and further that it would be impossible for people with a greedy mindset to get into those positions sooner or later.
If Greed is deemed Good, Money is the greatest metric of worth of somebody in Society and people are treated in very different ways depending on their Wealth, then, even in an imaginary World were we magically created a system were the holders of power in the State and Judiciary were all impeccably honest, independent and fair, all those mechanisms of power would sooner or later be corroded by those with the most Money, if only because such positions would attract all kinds of greedy people looking to use such positions for self-enrichment, who would then be possible to buy.
Capitalism and Corruption are the same picture and, IMHO, Fascist is just what Capitalism turn into once it stops growing, because once real growth stops the moneyed classes will use Corruption to (by changing Laws and the application of them) transition from capturing most of the new Wealth from growth into (in the absence of Growth) continue to enrich themselves by pillaging the Wealth of the rest of Society, a state of things which eventually generates a negative reaction from the rest of Society, which is when the Far-Right is literally subsidized by Money to preach ideologies (such as Fascism) that channel that reaction away from the pillaging elites and towards powerless scapegoats such as immigrants, the poor and ostracized minorities.
This is confusing because the issue is federal right now. It's the Feds against you. Many of the States are actually our last line of defense right now.
I get that state is being used outside of our "states", but again, more confusing than clever.
"The State" just means the entire mechanism of Government and Judiciary rather than "A State" which the US name for a regional area within the country with a lot of power independently of the country-wide Governmental and Judiciary powers.
It's only in a few countries (such as the US) that there is some confusion between "The State" and "A State", since most countries in the World don't call their regional areas with some independent power "States" (or in their own languages have different words for those concepts).
All this to say that this post probably meant it as the general power of Government and the Judiciary rather than a specific regional level holding such powers.

Yep when one side is actively and rabidly empowering the elites in massive numbers with religious fervor it's a battle of rationality versus religious cultists. Only have to see how cultists continue to defend their God King even when they are surprised they have been negatively impacted driven by hatred of the others more than their own suffering.
It would be nice if it was a simple rich vs poor, but it is far from that with huge ideological differences that actually go beyond simple financial classes.
While true, let's not ignore the fact that some citizens are definitely rabid about their party affiliation, and others are so fixated on other things like white nationalism that they're as much the enemy as capitalism.

Cool. That's not what I was talking about. I was talking about the fact that there's more the the story when it comes down to who is going to be a useful and acceptable ally against capitalism. You don't work with the klan, no matter what their political belief is. And there are socialist bigots, as well as anarchist bigots. They're no more an ally than a capitalist bigot is.
