ICE agents "raided" Newark business, detained multiple people, mayor says
Immigration agents "raided" a business in Newark on Thursday, according to the city's mayor.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka criticized ICE agents for "raiding" a local business without a warrant, detaining several individuals, including U.S. citizens, a military veteran, and undocumented immigrants.
When they come, they are not going to have warrants. They're just going to strongarm and intimidate their way in, and they're going to detain people without cause.
- Do you have a warrant? No? Go get one then.
- I decline to answer any questions.
- I do not consent to any search.
And I know this sounds real "sovcit," but they're right on this one:
- Am I being detained, or am I free to go? If you are free to go, go. If you are being detained, shut the fuck up.
Fuck this country
Fuck the nazi filth who installed themselves in our country.
That's why it's time.
One little consolation: They crowed all kinds of stuff about how they were going to deport a million people on day one. And then, when it came to be time, they had to pick one business, in one city, and not tell people in advance that they were doing it, because they knew they’d get in trouble otherwise and maybe not be able to do it.
It doesn’t mean things are not dangerous as fuck. They are. But watch for the failures, too, they’ll keep their aura of invincibility from seeming more real than it is.
