I do wish these things depicted more just a MAGA person screaming at random people. The left generally wants to be able to move past the seething hate of the right to make the class war we are already fighting a lot easier but the right just can’t help but fight for their oppressors.
It’s getting tiring seeing these like it’s news to both people in the image.
It really isn’t. The left is trying to fight the class war and the right are trying to deny trans people rights while sucking off capitalists. These are not the same thing.
I don't know how many times I've seen "red hat", "magat", "trumpist", etc… as a pejorative. I'm no fan of right wing policy or Trump's cult of personality, but let's be honest, leftists and progressives deride their supporters just as much as their leaders. The racist uncle trope and face eating leopard party are perfect examples of a permission structure for infighting instead of fighting the real enemies of the working class. I have fallen victim to this mentality myself, but we have to face our own faults clear eyed and with humility. It's not both sides, but the whole spectrum of the working class that has been deceived.
It's the difference between an earned pejorative and an unearned one.
If you intentionally identify yourself as a member of a cult built on hatred, you deserve how people respond to that.
That's not the same thing as hurling insults at people for being gay, trans, black, latino, asian, women, asexual, or whatever other component of people's identity that they choose to hate next.
Except that no matter what happens the left will not deny the right their access to universal healthcare. The racist uncle isn’t a trope, it’s reality for far too many people. The face-eating leopards meme is always used to show examples of why supporting fascist governments is a terrible idea for everyone, even those within the governments. They are real things.
I’m just a cishet white guy, I get to choose to do the right thing and support others. For so many people, though, their very existence is under threat by these hateful morons dragging them through the dirt at any opportunity and I’m not about to tell them they have to be kind to those people. Ten years ago I was saying to at least act with compassion but these days I’m fucking disgusted by conservatives and their easily disproved, hateful nonsense. I’ll still do it, because again I get to choose, but I understand why so many of my friends are fed up.
The only people trying to deny rights and freedoms are conservatives and, like, five cherry-picked examples of an extreme leftist that the right parades around to justify their hate. If the conservative base stopped trying to shit all over the left today the left would not then jump on the opportunity to punish them, they’d just go “THANK YOU. FUCK.” and finally have the time and support needed to actually make postive differences in everyone’s lives. We know that BECAUSE IT HAPPENS ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
Yes, because all it has done is enable the conservatives to do heinous shit. There is no compromise between wanting human rights and not wanting them. There is no “moderate” position on giving women the right to choose abortion, for example.
Harris working with Liz Cheney was bad because she was so hyper focused on that that she left a large portion of her base behind. She killed all her momentum to court conservatives who still didn’t like her all that much right up until the end. This is not hidden information unless you choose to ignore it so your argument can make sense.
A person with blue hair and glasses isn't a political statement. A person wearing a hat saying "Make America Great Again." , is.
Republicans want you to think of "both sides," but it's just backsliding into corruption, at least in NON-politicians that accept their doctrine.
If you see someone with blue hair and glasses and assume they're liberal, you haven't met very many military wives. I thought we were over the "gamer gate" feminist hate.
You must have a better monitor. When I zoomed in I couldn't read anything on that hat. I think they are just icons for the purpose of the cartoon. Perhaps you could assume they were liberal simply because they are arguing with the presumed republican. There are guys with red hats and mustaches that aren't Republican too. I don't think this is a latent feminist hate piece.
In the still, sadly, relevant words of Lyndon Johnson,
"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
I hate this argument because it is generally made by people who have never had bigots right in their face.
Rich people didn't tell them to hate others because they're queer or black. Their parents did. And their parents before them. The whole family tree rotted and if you want to blame the rich for that, you'll have to blame the rich that died many generations ago.
Suggesting that the ruling class is the only thing dividing people is naïve to the extreme. It doesn't matter how much you convince someone that the billionaires are their enemy. Even if they accept that (and many do), they're not the biggest enemy and never will be. That's just not how hatred and bigotry work. You might get people to agree that there is a class war and they are losing, but as long as they're losing less than the n--s, they're still winning and fuck you if you think they're going to fight side by side with them.
I'm not sure many people are suggesting that the ruling class is the only thing dividing people, but they certainly aren't upset to see people fighting left vs right when it comes to topics like Luigi Mangione. Bigotry won't dissappear alongside the extremely rich, but if we can convince bigots that the minorities aren't to blame this time, then why is that a bad thing
but if we can convince bigots that the minorities aren’t to blame this time, then why is that a bad thing
You can't. Not most of them. It's like convincing people that Christianity isn't true. You'll get a few people here and there siding with you, but you're pissing in the wind most of the time. This is way too embedded to think you can just talk them all out of their bigotry.
Again, this is the sort of hopeful comment that generally comes from people who have not had bigots get up in their faces and it's just not how the world works. I wish it was, but it isn't.
To get to this level of thinking you need to actively disregard issues like abortion and healthcare. You need to trivialize the problems people are sincerely and passionately fighting over. Posts like these are looking you dead in the eye and saying "The things you care about don't matter, this rich guy stealing your shit does".
As someone who has been radicalized by the pure insanity of the Republican party, it's the most condescending shit I've read in recent memory and only serves as propaganda for the right because they're the only ones who benefit from everyone shifting focus while they control checks notes oh yeah, the entire governmental body.
The issues you care about will never be solved by the rich guy stealing your shit. Because if the rich guy solved any one of those problems, that just reduces how much he can steal.
There are no heroes in the capital, either. Cause as long as they help the rich guy steal your shit, rich guy gives them a cut.
Yes, the rich guy who wants you to be miserable, mainly because they never matured enough mentally or emotionally to understand that your misery and their happiness are not actually related. And that problem is fucking everything else over...
If you'd rather fight a culture war, you're just helping the shit heads destroy everything. And in so doing, you become nothing more than a useful idiot. Until the class war is resolved, your important issues don't mean shit, cause they ain't getting solved. Period.
Class warfare is not real. Workers don't identify each other by class. An white American from Dixie is not going to identify with a labourer from Africa. People identify each other through religion, culture and language.
