President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son from federal gun and tax crimes —and any other offenses over a nearly 11-year period — has drawn outrage from Republicans, while only a few Democrats have criticized the outgoing president for establishing a potential precedent for the incoming GOP administration.
We all know that the Cheeto’s first act will be to pardon himself, his children, and anyone else who might be useful. Honestly, I’d respect Biden less if he hadn’t pardoned Hunter.
Same. I was a little irritated about him signalling that he wouldn't pardon Hunter initially like. Bro come on shit on the Republicans and be crass about it.
It’s beneficial to him and politically shrewd. If Trump does it for his family then he’s as bad as Biden. If congress passes a law banning it for family then Trump is potentially exposed. They’ll have to find a more clever way to come after him and that makes their job more difficult in both the long and short term.
Wow, something Biden did drew blowback from Republicans? Imagine that!
This is a non-story. Biden could declare that water is wet and would receive blowback. To Republicans, even an extremely moderate democrat can do nothing right simply because he's a democrat.
I'm not sure whether I agree with Biden pardoning his son, but I can certainly understand why he would do it. Beyond the fact that he's a father who loves his son, he has nothing to lose at this point. Trump is going to destroy Biden's legacy anyway.
The assumption that people will always treat their friends/family/benefactors better than others should be baked into how we organize instead of being a continuous foil to fairness
