A while ago in November, it seems I missed a post from a user in the GamingOnLinux Discord server, noting that the Discord developers finally hooked up screen and audio sharing for Linux with Wayland.

I honestly never expected this to happen and its good and benefits me because all my friends use it and streaming stuff for them has been lousy, but I also wish discord would die in a fire and and stop being used in place of traditional forums because it's janky, search interface is god awful, and not web searchable.
Discord isn't a forum, Discord is a chat software. Maybe you are thinking of Discourse which is a forum software that is also much worse than traditional forum software.
no I mean people or organizations using specifically discord as their sole support platform and the janky threads feature in place of a real forum, but a lot of useful info buried and not pinned in the general channel and whiny assholes that get mad at you for not searching on the shittiest search implementation known to man which still gives you multiple or all channels of results when you single out specific ones. The worst part is when you search something and it gives you posts from a single thread, out of order as well as interleaved with other threads.
Then you pick one but its useless and when you go back it refreshes and gives you the list from the beginning with slight order variations to keep you on your toes.
Unfortunately a lot of places use discord for things that forums used to do - bug reports for software, collecting feedback, even troubleshooting and tech support.
I imagine this is because discord servers are free while websites require money to maintain.
It is absolutely used as a forum. It even has forum features built in.
And only Wayland.
Better of with vesktop honestly cause you can use higher quality video with it too.Have you tried the update? There are comments in the article that claim discord fixed both Wayland and X11. Haven't confirmed myself, but hopefully those comments are right!
I'll probably stick with vesktop too though, I've become too attached to custom themes
Those custom themes mostly mask the baloney the discord design team does
