Real-Debrid, a popular tool among pirates, says it's implementing far-reaching anti-piracy measures including hash and keyword filters.
In light of recent events regarding RealDebrid we do not recommend people use addons powered by RealDebrid for their Kodi library, and we strongly do not recommend that people pay for RealDebrid service.
You may still promote these addons in the community, there is no ban on promotion of usage of these addons. They are simply not recommended as they likely will not last or remain functional for very long.
What is forbidden is encouraging others to pay for RealDebrid without making this fact clear to people, as many people may not have heard the news and would waste their money on something that may not work for the next few months.
It should be noted that snarkiness or rude comments towards users who wish to not pay for RD due to this or any other concerns are considered uncivil behavior and violate rule 1 of the community rules.
There are a few posts on !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com but the gist of it is that RealDebrid is based in France and they got hit with an order to crack down on infringing content, they also ended up torching their API so the service is now useless for all Kodi addons which use it. Some of which are hardcoded to it.
Worst thing is that some addons had the Debrid service locked to use RealDebrid, so now those are effectively all broken. Many of their Devs and community members of the OG addons community insisted it would never happen and that people were being too paranoid.
Alldebrid is also based in France, so will likely get the same notice as RD. It remains to be seen whether they'd comply like RD has, but FNEF has taken filehosts to court before. RD arent naive to the fact their actions have completely hamstrung their business
