Why Amazon's latest AI is named after a dog
Amazon has called its latest AI assistant Rufus. But what is the story behind this unusual moniker and how does it compare to the way other AIs have been named?
The weird way AI assistants get their names
So uh, skipping a bunch of excess lore:

The chat bot is named after a dog because a dog-named chatbot is more likely to make users treat it with patience, kindness, and understand that it does silly things sometimes, but it means well.
