A new take on the liqueur completely transforms the two-ingredient ’70s classic for me.
I guess my palate is modern, because amaretto sour is way too sweet for me. I do mine as a bourbon sour with some amaretto. But I'm interested in this stuff.
Sounds great. I tried bourbon in an amaretto sour (a godfather sour?) last night, although the recipe I used still asked for a decent amount of syrup so I think it brought it back to a usual sweetness.
I actually flip the proportions and it still tastes mostly like amaretto!
I won't be buying the Adriatico until it is available closer, the two online places I found had $30-$40 shipping cost and none of the other items I can't get locally. Oh well.
I made it! Did equal parts amaretto, lemon, bourbon and it's not sweet enough even for me. Honestly I would be happy to put it alone in little glasses for an after dinner sip, it's very, very good. But mixed I am less impressed with it so far, though it may be my expectation and usual tactics not working. If this doesn't put me under the table I'll try later with much less lemon and no egg white just bourbon, this amaretto, a little lemon, and maybe a lemon twist.
