Though I think it's actually for sitting next to a wheelchair bound companion, or to sit while holding your bike out of the way of the aisle.

I always assumed that they're that way because a second chair would block the door.

Oh yeah, you may be right. I saw some trains in NL have upper sections, and the last row before the stairwell will have just one chair to give people space to negotiate it. So that could be it as well

This "cuck" is probably an anglicism.
Also, the barrier between English and Dutch is pretty flimsy.
You mean something that sounds dumb in English also sounds dumb in Dutch? Wow!
I don't speak dutch and this is very clear. Is that what dutch is? English but like a 4yo is talking
