Toph will be played by Miya Cech, a 17 year old actress of Chinese & Japanese descent. She does not have any sight impairments. She was adopted by Czech parents (hence the last name). For an amusing tidbit, she was in a movie called 'a great divide'.

Netflix has just announced that season 2 of the live action series is now in production.
Way better than anticipated for me. Hard to see how they could have done much better. Sure they change things, but they actually did a really good job working together some plot lines into a shortened version. It’s not the animated show and it never could be, but I really think it’s pretty good as long as you can separate them in your head.
To say nothing of the RPG that not only throws the doors wide for all sorts of interpretation and exploration of the world itself — its rules system prioritizes creative solutions and storytelling by everyone at the table. 🤘🏽🤓 (It even includes a great fan-tested version of Pai Sho!)
Personally, I had to stop watching after a few episodes. The writing is just awful.
It's a lot of telling, not showing. And because of the poor writing, the actors suffer. There's not many good ways to deliver poorly written lines.
The changes they made might be logical, but the execution was poor. At least in the episodes I watched, it's like every character has to say exactly what they are feeling, and they do the whole "so what's the plan again" trope to remind the audience of what's going on way too often.
Sokka's character arc in season 1 was kinda botched... He was misogynistic in the original on purpose... And then got his ass absolutely handed to him by the Kyoshi warriors and it was a good moment. In this one they seemed afraid to hit the misogyny, so the moment was kinda lost, and the character development was flat.
There's just a lot is missteps, in my opinion, but the source is the writing. I don't think the acting is good, but it's because of the writing, not the actors.
I thought most of it was ok. Some changes like Bumi I really didn't like but references to the Kyoshi books were nice. And the once episode about Zuko's past, Lu Ten's funeral and

the change that Zuko's men are the people he didn't want sacrificed
was really great. I think that's the one episode written by the original showrunners.
