Canceled Fallout game Van Buren rebuilt and playable now thanks to mod

The original version of Fallout 3, codenamed Van Buren, is resurrected in a Fallout 2 mod that just got updated and is available right now.

I haven't read the design docs for Van Buren myself, were there enough in there to actually build a game out of or is this project more fanfiction and educated guesswork?

  In practice, this is a total conversion for Fallout 2, reshaping the isometric classic with new characters, quests, story missions, weapons, and items based on what the Fallout community has learned about Van Buren over the years.
  
  The original was meant to be 3D as well.

Had a look to see how easy it was to get it up and running on the stream deck. I'm a massive Fallout fan, but it was just all too hard at this stage.
Disappointing that its a Fallout 2 mod and not a fix-up of the Van Buren codebase but I guess only the tech demo ever got leaked, not any full codebase.
