Aww yes! Almost the whole gang here.

I reinstalled Reddit earlier today, and I'm very sad to see the news about the DT. I haven't been there as long as some of you, but I have been around long enough for it to feel like my little internet home. It's very upsetting to see all of the conversations and memories from the sub just gone, potentially forever.

The silver lining, I guess, is that r/Melbourne was almost the only reason I even use reddit, so I guess I can get rid of it now.

I hope everyone will be sticking around, I guess this will be my new home now.

(also, I'm still getting the hang of this fediverse and instance stuff, Baku@aussie.zone is also me, but Jebora doesn't seem to have a way of logging into aussie.zone, so sh.itjust.works is my home instance for now)

Me too. I mostly lurked and commented and rarely posted. It's a bit of a surprise for me still. Somehow I didn't think they'd yeet the whole sub into oblivion but here we are!
- For me it was the speed at which they nuked it and the fact that it was locked from 4pm, felt excessive.

Been screenshotting saved posts (much to the cats' chagrin when they wanted cuddles) but enough.

No offence to the mods here, but this site would have to get a heck of a lot better for me to not run straight back to Reddit should the ceo pull his head out of his ass. It’s good! It’s just lacking the polish. And an app.

In a moment of sheer brilliance, I got completely fuddled, thought I created a duplicate account, and accidentally deleted the account I just made, inadvertently locking out the other name for good. Eventually managed to get things together enough, although I ended up with a headache. Not ideal for just getting over being ill, and a different kind of headache.

I now know what it is to be like, to be 97, and not know how to computer. Admittedly, the interface not telling you that there's an issue and just sitting there loading forever did not help any.
