What is even going on at Sony right now? They don't have any games announced for release that look even remotely interesting, and they laid off 8% of their workforce which includes these guys and now they're standing up a new studio to make the same thing the shutdown studio was making. I have more faith in Sony to make a proper game these days than Microsoft but both companies seem to be struggling. Helldivers 2 is the best game Sony has released this year.
The whole gaming industry is in a slump because no one is trapped inside due to Covid restrictions anymore so people aren't buying/playing games at the same rate they were 2 years ago. Studios are trying to trim the fat as much as possible, regardless of the human cost of restructuring.
