I mean, technically, it was. Erso rigged it so that it blew up from inside the design team.

Also, I’m just gonna say it- R2D2 took the shot. He was faking being shot so he could focus. That little droid has made quite the career out of letting hicks take the credit.
- Thats actually a good point, they say its an impossible shot but surely a fucking droid can make the correct calculations to shoot at the right time
  
  Plus R2D2 had the entire Death Star plans in his memory.
  
  Apparently droids are not good enough to shoot guns. Most guns are fired by people, even the ones on star destroyers.
At that size, would you be able to detect the curve while flying so fast?
