Non-European countries closest in land area to each European country

Damn, the mercator projection is really distorting. Seeing all these African countries which "look" pretty small are actually really large as shown by this map.

I assume it's the Republic of the Congo for Germany, not the Democratic Republic.

Just now realized how big Madagascar is.

Had no idea Madagascar was so big.

I'd like to see the same for US states.

Here I was thinking about how Madagascar must be smaller than I thought if it's the same size as Ukraine. It looks so big on a map, like a quarter Australia.

I also thought Switzerland being the same size as Bhutan to be rather interesting, as they both have famous mountain ranges and tend to be a neutral while sandwiched between bigger powers.

Uh I thought Philippines was bigger since there's like 200 million of them.

Is this map made by a turk? Why are half of the greek islands in Aegean Sea grey? Wtf.
