Oh my friend i got like 30 of them in my comments from other posts. They are legion and if you ask them or a republican, they are the real left. They represent us more than i'd care to admit. We have a branding issue.
I guess the reason I don’t see them is that they’re all hounding you, then. Also I would never ask a Republican’s opinion on where someone falls on the political spectrum, they think center-right democrats are communists or somehow going to slippery slope the world there in under a decade while actively fighting most left-wing ideology.
The left doesn’t have a branding problem so much as people are stupid as hell and equally stubborn so trying to explain that the center is not, in fact, the extreme left just because the only other option is full-blown far-right fascism is a Sisyphean task. And here in Canada we actually do have three choices which is both better because we have choice and so much worse because even then we’re still considering the Conservative party valid despite all its major failures.
Communicating across political lines and ideologies is one of the most challenging things I do in a day. I trade complex derivatives for a living. Lots of calculus. I still don't really know how to reach the far left or far right, but we need to because they are a growing force, and horseshoe theory turns them into a dangerous unified party.
People are stupid as hell because the dems rolled over in congress to George Bush and the republicans stripping education. People are also not that stupid. I find them to be scared, distracted, angry. Most of them understand complex concepts if you can voice them in their language. You have to avoid a mine field of triggering language. Many times they shut down and scream fuck joe biden. you have to back off let them breath and not push it.
At the end of the day part of our country has fallen for a cult of death and money. I still think we need to look at our countrymen like our family if we lost them to a cult. We have always had a branding problem because republicans are slowly winning the race to erase all progress since FDR.
We have lost the narrative. if i had a dollar for every time i heard a lib say "we can't do that because it will hurt the people and blame it on us" i'd be rich and people would still be hurt.
Ok here’s the deal though, I have a not insurmountable but not pathetic bar I expected to be crossed. If people can see the fucking obvious, in your face shit that’s happening today, where even the right-wing propaganda machine isn’t really hiding it and still believe in 90% of this bullshit then they are stupid. If I have to handhold them and tell them they’re special and use only the best words and still pray that things will turn out even margainally ok then those people are a dangerous, stupid liability. A dangerous and stupid liability that I would still like to see have fair wages and healthcare, mind you, but oh my god they are not smart because you can send them to a university and train them like a Sea World dolphin to do basic tricks(university should also be free, of course).
I’m sorry was there a typo in that lib comment? You’re saying that generally those people agree that they shouldn’t do things that hurt people? And that they actually fear consequences? Those are good things.
I still have incredibly strong doubts that you even know what the far-left is beyond a handful of loud tankies you bump into on the internet.
I am super duper confident when welfare and social services get cutt down we will hear the collective screaming of MAGA first. I'm kinda into seeing my theory in action.

The lib comment was mostly directed at schumer and caving on the CR. Lots of people supported his decision, i think people are getting hurt either way, dont give up any leverage. The people arn't going to really hurt if the government shuts down for a week. especially if it opens back up less violent and oppressive. But they will see that hey wait i am a recipient of the governments services I need those.
I think we need to let people touch the stove a bit, not starve them to death but im pretty sure trump voters need a reminder that they are cashing welfare checks in greater proportion than most.
I have a bunch of leftist friends who are really awesome people and do a ton of work for the community. They are our social workers, teachers genuinely people you love to have around. I know the difference between a leftist and a tankie. Fuck hate tankies my god.
How on earth is none of this enough “touching the stove” to set people in the US off? Even in Canada we’re not as bad for it(don’t worry, many are certainly trying). But regardless, Schumer is center-right and does not fit the “lib” label in the slightest(neo-liberal, maybe, but “lib” has a specific meaning). I see what you meant at least, but it’s not like Trump’s big shut down really stuck in people’s minds and it would give the Democrats reason to pretend that they have spines and a great excuse to tell people why they did it. What I’m saying there is that the Democrats aren’t making a hard choice but an objectively bad one and I hate how low the bar is that this is where things are at.
To me touching the stove is when 70 million grandmas need financial, physical, and medical assistance all at once.
None of these people think it's going to happen to them. I live in a state full of 65+ and then a bunch of MAGA veterans. They need to lose those VA & SS benefits. Some of them are using grandmas social security. From what I can see in my state it would take about 2 weeks of no Social Security checks and MAGA would be looking to Jan 6 again.
So ya I agree with ya. We should have shut down the government and explained why we did it and explained what we needed to open it back up. It was a really simple maneuver and Schumer dropped the ball and fucked us all. I was inspired to see Booker holding the floor yesterday for 25 hours. We need more Booker's and less schumers in the house. Dems need stronger leadership. Stronger strategy, etc etc.
i don't want to see trumpism cemented into American law for the next 30 years.
