Pretty sure that's how right and left politicians work. I'm not saying it's a good thing, that's just generally how politics works now that impeachment means nothing, especially when people have such short memories.

Reminder that Liberalism is also a right-wing ideology, it's just a bit more socially centrist than conservatism. You don't really have much of a left-wing voice in US politics at all, beyond a couple of politicians, I'm afraid.
Actual left wing politicians are guided by ideology to primarily benefit the greatest number of people with their policy.
Right wing politicians are guided by ideology to primarily benefit those holding the greatest amount of capital with their policy.
