Yoga
- The Inner World
Meditation and yoga help us journey into and reside within the interior world of sensation in our body, experience of our breath, witness of our mind’s dialogue, and the terrain of our emotional responses. The longer we are able to reside in this inner world, the more powerful our concentration becomes. We also realize that this internal experience is a shared one. As we journey inward, our intelligence connects to Intelligence, our mind communes with Mind. Our self merges with Self.
- Meditative Thought of the Day
We are already in heaven. The divine already lies within us. This has always been and will always be true. Each of us must simply stop reinforcing the fear that this is not so. Meditation helps us learn how to stop. By stopping, we can truly experience what we are and better understand our connection to the universe. Through the practice of meditation, one can witness the confluence of everyday consciousness and singular, pointed concentration.
- Develop Pearls
There is a pretty Indian fable to the effect that if it rains when the star Svati is in ascendance, and a drop of rain falls into an oyster, that drop becomes a pearl. The oysters know this, so they come to the surface when the star appears, and wait to catch the precious raindrops. When the drops fall into them, quickly the oysters close their shells and dive down to the bottom of the sea, there patiently to develop the raindrops into pearls. You should be like that. First hear, then understand, and then, leaving all distractions, shut your minds to outside influences and devote yourselves to developing the truth within you. — Swami Vivekananda
- Pratyahara
Withdrawing the senses, mind, and consciousness from contact with external objects, and then drawing them inwards towards the seer, is pratyahara.
Yoga Sutras
- A practice of peace
“Peace is impossible to those who look on war. Peace is inevitable to those who offer peace. How easily, then, is your judgment of the world escaped. It is not the world that makes peace seem impossible. It is the world you see that is impossible.”
A Course in Miracles
Each aspect of the yoga path entails nonviolence. Ahimsa is the practice of nonharming to ourselves & others. Pranayama brings peace to the waters of our mind. We can allow this peace to ripple through us & into other beings. What you see is what you practice and what you practice is what you see.
- Best Yoga for Contortion
There's no circus contortion studio near where I live, so I was thinking yoga might be a good alternative. I know next to nothing about yoga, but I'm more interested in contortion aspects.
My studio has the following,
- Yin
- Hath
- Ashtanga Vinjasa
- Kundalini
Which one would be the closest to contortion?
- Pranayama is the bridge between the body and the soul
The body is the field of righteousness and also of tribulation. It is the former when used for good and the latter when used for bad. It is the field, and the Self is the knower thereof. Pranayama is the bond between the two.

- Day 260 Meditations from the Mat
Devi: O Shiva, what is your reality? What is this wonder-filled universe? What constitutes seed? Who centers the universal wheel? What is this life beyond form pervading forms? How may we enter it fully, above space and time, names and descriptions? Let my doubts be cleared!
Shiva: Radiant one, this experience may dawn between two breaths.
- Ancient Tantric text
- Asana Wisdom
“In asana our eyes are open, our ears are open, our minds are open, our hearts are open. As the months turn into years, we realize that our practice is a long unfolding, an opening into promise. We learn to stand easy, firm, and relaxed, and our problems become the open windows of opportunity.” –Rolf Gates

- Compassion Quote
Compassion refers to the arising in the heart of the desire to relieve the suffering of all beings. At its most evolved form, compassionate action does not arise solely out of personal desire. Rather, it arises from a desire created by the collective suffering of all beings. –Ram Das
- A quote for reflection
Who is the Knower that knows the world but cannot itself be known? Who is the Hearer that hears the birds but cannot itself be heard? Who is the Seer that sees the clouds but cannot itself be seen? — Ken Wilber

As a teacher, I'd like to be able to adjust my students' postures and guide them in their movements. Thanks for your recommandations, namaste !
