How do you get past your writer's block?
  • And my apologies for replying so late, but that is a really good advice that I will surely try to follow. Thank you very much for those advices, it really speaks volumes to me to be honest. I will try my best and I hope you do too!

  • Same here, been using YT Premium via Argentina for 2 years or so by now. It's nice, cause the few bucks you pay for that are fine, considering you get all videos ad-free and even YT music which isn't great but a nice bonus! just a shame you by now need a Mastercard for it cause Visas have to be from Argentina, as I've heard.

  • No worries, I actually enjoyed reading this much about your story and your, let's say, journey so far. I mean, you get into detail which helps me quite a lot. Even tho my story is not as character-driven as yours, I would say there are still some very helpful tips in it! Even though your part with "how to get back into the story" is my main problem. My story tends to be very complicated on times. I have now boiled it down to basically two perspectives, the protagonist and the antagonist, but it's still very convoluted when you meet all kinds of characters over a short amount of time. I did that on purpose though: my story takes place in a city where all hell breaks loose, so people are panicked, and they are running around, meeting dozens of other people. Some of them stick, but I wanted to bring that feeling of chaos and helplessness to the reader, so I don't start slowly, you know. After a few pages, you are already in it, deep nose-dive into the chaos with no way of finding a way out. Sounds kinda weird now that I read it.

Yeah I guess I just have to get in the right state of mind to get back into my story. I worked on this for so long and I just wish it would be finished sometime soon haha

  • Thoughts on Reddit as a whole.
  • yes exactly! It's nice to see that some people actually care enough to move over here and start a new community. Didn't think this would grow so fast tbh, but it's welcoming to see. And for whatever Reddit does, maybe it gets back to normal someday, but I highly doubt it.

  • Thoughts on Reddit as a whole.
  • Well I hope they read it! Very well written, it's nice that you don't suggest them to change or whatever, you just want to leave (as if they would change anything to begin with, right?)

  • How do you get past your writer's block?
  • Yes, I love this Subreddit (oh sorry, said the forbidden word haha) but yeah, I didn't save any prompts they posted because there were some really cool ones there! That would be a great idea and maybe something like that will show up here eventually as well?

  • How do you get past your writer's block?
  • So basically, you suggest to just write down whatever you can think of and later sort the ... not so great stuff out haha? I mean sounds like an idea, but since my work is fiction, it's hard to just write down everything when it has to make at least a little bit of sense inside the world that I try to create. Am I making any sense right now?

  • How do you get past your writer's block?
  • Thank you very much for that! Yeah for me the problem is, my writer's block has been "active" for so long and I really want to continue with my project and get other projects done as well. I want to make this my first published story, whether or not someone reads it, I don't care, but I want to achieve that, you know haha. So yes, I will try what you said and just write, whatever comes to my mind haha

  • How do you get past your writer's block?
  • That sounds great! So you would say that basically, the feedback gives you the "strength" (if you can call it that) to continue? And you don't seem to be too focused on just one story, saying that you are working on multiple ones, but how do you keep track of everything, like knowing where exactly you left of, what's the next big step and all that, you get what I mean?

  • I was wondering, about your suggestion (and please, keep in mind I am not that intelligent when it comes to technology): when I access all the posts via my RSS reader, doesn't this still count as some kind of "visit" to Reddit's site? Shouldn't we just try to stay away from it as long and as good as possible?

  • Guten Morgen!

28 y.o. German nerd (kinda, you know what I mean) that has just migrated over from Reddit because... you know. Since I heard about this new community, I wanted to be a part of it. Let's make this grow, right? Anyways, I have been way too much into all kinds of tv series, recently rewatching Charmed as we speak. In general I do like all kinds of series tho, but I am not a fan (and beware, here comes the shame) of Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings... yes, I know, how dare I. But it's just not for me haha.

If my stupid PC didn't break down about 9 months ago, I would still be all up into gaming. I love it, it's my favorite hobby besides another one that I will mention shortly haha. But yes, my PC was old, very old, and it finally gave up the will to support my hobby. And since the prices are too high for my low-paid job, I can't afford a new one.

So the other hobby I wanted to mention is writing. It is my longest-running hobby (if you can say it like that). I love it, but my writer's block has been insane. Anyways, I just love expressing myself like that, creatively since I think (in a very humble way, believe me) that I am in fact very creative and it bugs me so much that thanks to my writer's block, I can't make good use out of it.

Before this gets too long, I want to stop it here, just some side notes: I really want to meet some nice people on here and make friends all over the world, since this is the biggest benefit of the internet, right? We have a big opportunity here!

  • How do you get past your writer's block?

So I have been writing since... I can remember, let's say at least 15 years. From short stories about all kinds of stuff to more fleshed out things, I just love expressing myself creatively, you get what I mean right?

So anyways, since I would say 3 years or so I couldn't write anything. I really want to continue, but I just can't get myself to do it. And I don't want to force myself because maybe then it turns out to be just bad, you know?

Maybe it's my personal situation that has changed, maybe it's just something that keeps me from it... but I would like to know what you do of you experience a writer's block!

BTW this is my first post on here since I just registered on here and I want to try leaving Reddit... just FYI
