US can cut building emissions by up to 91%, saving $100 billion a year in energy-related costs, modeling study shows
  • That seems to be the trend nowadays, repeating the same thing as if they were trying to meet a quota. Often I see articles about a single tweet of about 100 characters, just summarizing the tweet several times with no additional info. Generating an article with AI would probably be even better now, especially when it's just a summary of a study.

  • [DISCUSS] Pros/cons of videos for technical documentation?
  • For me personally it's easier to watch a video than to read a blog post or whatever these days. That's mostly because I can listen/watch while doing chores. However, if I need to use it later there's just no way I can find it or find what was in it. I like the format of Theprimeagen in particular when he goes over blog posts, I can always refer to that when I want to. So I'd say:

    • videos as a replacement for written media: no
    • videos as an addition to written media: yes

I think Supabase does this well. The documentation is there, videos are more specific and lengthy

  • X is working on ID verification, what’s next?
  • I haven’t found any info on such regulation existing

In Belgium, the RRN (SSN) is considered confidential data and its use is restricted to specific purposes, typically related to administrative, legal, or public interest matters. To ask for RRN, you'd need authorization and it's highly unlikely you'd get it just to validate someone's social media account.

  • Ah thanks, I couldn't find anything about it. I run all my stuff on a server behind a Tailscale network, so nothing is accessible without VPN access. I thought it might need connections from other instances.

  • Thoughts on Decentralised messengers?
  • Stay away from wiremin, this same "question" has been posted in many places over and over again and these posts get deleted shortly after. It's nothing but a scam at this point. My comment on another of these posts that has been deleted:

The fact that WireMin doesn't redirect to https and the contact email is some weird gmail address says a lot. I also steer away from the web3 stuff in general.

This also seems like a poor way to advertise:

From all the google results I can find, It seems whoever posts this shit has a habit of removing it shortly after and reposting it later
