Recommended safety measures for Wilkes Avenue 'come up short,' Winnipeg councillor says

  • I’d be quite surprised if this did not later have to be re-litigated.

That's the state of indigenous relations in Canada in a nutshell. Constant relitigation, with very little progress.

Even when the courts direct specific settlements, the government does everything it can to avoid paying them.

  • I'm not that familiar with watch culture, but I do know it's a whole 'nother world.

  • Variety has a little more information on Yashere:

Yashere was the co-creator and showrunner of the sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola,” which ran for five seasons on CBS. She got her start in the U.S. as a finalist on “Last Comic Standing,” and has appeared as a comedian on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” “Def Comedy Jam,” “Live at the Apollo” and “The Tonight Show.” She’s also acted on “The Neighborhood,” “Crashing,” and “The Barbarian and the Troll.”

  • While I recognize that some people aren't interested in merchandise, what my theory presupposes is...some people are, and the internet isn't just for you?

  • I'm beginning to think the women's team should withdraw from the Olympics simply to save face.

And it's definitely time to clean house at Canada Soccer.

  • I assume that's going to be refunded now that it's in the media, but as always it's pretty pathetic when that's what it takes.

  • Yeah, it was basically unusable yesterday.

  • Canada Soccer CEO and general secretary Kevin Blue said in the COC release announcing Priestman's removal that "additional information has come to our attention regarding previous drone use against opponents, predating the Paris 2024 Olympic Games."

  • It probably wouldn't be newsworthy at all, but my understanding is that municipal governments are required by law to balance their budgets?

  • They've now released a dev blog about these new ships, so I pasted some comparisons into that thread.

  • There we have it - it's not so much an "update" as a "replacement."

    Aurora then:

    Aurora now:

    Quasar then:

    Quasar now:

  • To be clear, those are both the old skins of the Aurora and Quasar, respectively - I have no idea what the new versions look like.

  • This is a case of Fun With Commas - Sobeys is owned by a different obscene conglomerate, Empire Company.

Metro, Walmart, Giant Tiger, and Empire are the co-conspirators along with the Weston companies.

  • The Aurora and Quasar variants of the Science Vessel family have been totally remastered!

These are original, alternate skins for the Nova class - it's always interesting when they go back to touch up the really old stuff that nobody really uses any more.

  • I’ve realized it’s just the colors I don’t like.

Yeah, I think it suffers from the same issue that I had with the New Paradigm Daleks - the colours make it look very plasticy.

If the blue bits had more of a brushed metal appearance, I think it would look a lot better.

  • I have to admit, I don't envision this thing flying off the shelves.

The detailing is pretty cool, though - it's a shame that hasn't really come through on-screen yet.

  • We finally have a name!

According to provincial companies office and land titles documents obtained by CBC News on Tuesday, Kelly Vasas is the sole director of a numbered Manitoba company that owns 285 College Ave., where the evictions took place.

  • Of course, his presence there would have basically made the whole season pointless

I think that's probably why they tucked him into season two instead. I'm guessing they wanted him to appear in a way that wouldn't break the story, and that was easier to do in the time travel caper.

You're right, though - it was a big missed opportunity to reunite him with the cast, and even the set, of the old show.

  • Well, that's embarassing. I'm a little surprised they don't just disqualify the team and get on with it.

  • I don't know when it will actually be released, but I think the Lemmy devs are actively working on a post-tagging system. Once it's in place, we will probably figure out how it might best be used in our communities.
