Trump asks for conviction to be overturned after immunity ruling
  • That is the whole point of the ruling -- to cause confusion and allow there to be an argument that it was an official act. It's clearly not and any logical and reasonable person would see that, but logic and reason doesn't exist in this country anymore.

  • The justices of the supreme court ruled that Trump was immune and effectively above the law while being president. What is now stopping Biden from bringing a gun to the next debate?
  • So then Trump should still be prosecuted, right? Since he allegedly broke the law 91 times, 34 of which he has already been found guilty of exactly that… right?

Pretty sure that the point of the ruling is to grant Trump considerably more ammunition to fight with since it wasn’t an outright “no, he’s not immune.” Any hedging that this was not a political move by the very conservative court is willful ignorance of reality.

We as a nation have only two hopes left: that the public creates an overwhelming lopsided victory for Biden in November (unlikely since nearly half of the country would suck Trump’s very tiny penis if given the chance), or that Chutkan and other judges don’t let this moronic Supreme Court decision change their rulings since supposedly the decision leaves it in these judges hands. And it’s now very unlikely anything will occur prior to November so we may be left with only the one hope.

Make no mistake — Trump is a criminal, a convicted felon, and Trump supporters love it. Because yet again they think they’re “owning the libs” when in reality they are destroying the republic with their sycophancy. I sincerely hope they each get what they want and the country gets irrevocably destroyed — so that their owning of the libs is complete and maybe, just maybe, they’ll finally shut — the — fuck — up.

  • Sorry I can't do it.
  • Okay.

  • Sorry I can't do it.
  • Works quite well for me. But I would agree it’s not the best to start with if having little desktop Linux experience.

  • Sorry I can't do it.
  • Good luck! Linux is sadly not quite yet for everyone, but it’s so much further along than it was when I started in 1999.

I bounced between Linux and Windows for decades, but when the Recall debacle happened, it became clear that Microsoft have lost their collective minds. I wiped my system, put Garuda Linux on it, and everything works quite well for me with no tinkering except with user-level KDE settings. I also changed from an NVIDIA RTX 3070Ti to an AMD RX 7800XT just so everything related to graphics would just work and I didn’t have to wait and hope that explicit sync really does fix everything for NVIDIA on Wayland.

I also use proton-ge for everything (in Steam as well as in Lutris which uses umu-launcher) and every game I’ve attempted to run (thus far on the order of 35+ games), has run great, including Elden Ring. I’ve found in my 25 years experience, the trick with Linux is two-fold: researching hardware to guarantee full Linux support…and having patience. And I’ve fell victim to that last one dozens of times over the years which led me back to windows each time.

    No more.

  • Elon Musk claims Optimus robots could make Tesla a $25 trillion company — more than half the value of the S&P 500 today
  • Careful, there are many Musk fanboys on Lemmy who get their panties twisted if you start attacking their idol.

But yes, he makes lots of claims, most, at minimum, are pure bullshit. Anyone remember the Boring company? Apparently they’re still in business…somehow.

  • I’m simply stating that not all school administrators are saints. And I had a specific anecdote of one such person.

Of course the guy shouldn’t have shoved him in that venue. And if it’s about race, it’s even worse (though the article clearly tries to make it about race from its first sentence, so I don’t know either way).

But I know what it feels like to see one’s kid be unfairly treated by school systems and specific administrators. And in the article it states the parent sees it that way much in the same vein as my anecdote (his kid got the book thrown at her while others who violated the same policy got no punishment at all).

Hopefully that clears it up for you. But if not, not my problem.

  • Tesla Shareholders Approve Musk's $56 Billion Pay Package in Early Voting
  • I don’t think so. I think it’s a one-time compensation package at present, but I could be wrong.

I don’t understand it because that money could go to the actual people doing the actual work — and I’m quite sure they deserve it and could use it far more than Musk.

  • Yeah, that's gonna be a no from me, dawg
  • If compared to The Motion Picture, I agree. But that’s quite a low bar.

Though I do like that they included a nod to Star Trek V in Strange New Worlds.

  • White Dad Apologized to the Black Superintendent He Pushed On Stage, But It Didn't Go As He Expected
  • This guy was definitely a dick for shoving him. And I feel bad for the daughter.

But I have had my own issues with school administrators where I live, where a group of kids, boys and girls included, all had done something worthy of, at most, suspension — the girls had the book thrown at them (effective expulsion for at least a half-year), and the boys got off without so much as a warning.

I would never seek out the administrator in question, but if I ever saw the misogynist piece of shit again I’d likely deck him in the face.

Though I did get some satisfaction a year later, when that administrator got effectively demoted to a lower tier school.

Edit>> People need to actually read the article if they can’t correlate what I wrote here to it, assuming comprehension isn’t a roadblock for them.

  • Everything Apple iOS 18 Will Do, Android Already Does
  • Yep, and Android also suffers from plenty of malware within the Play Store. I’d rather a company focus on combating that than worrying so much about minor features.

Edit> Yeah I figured I would be downvoted. People are very tribal and base their identity on such which means they will disagree with me. I am a pragmatist and don’t want to deal with malware and a shitshow of fragmentation — so while it does suck to be within Apple’s walled garden, it at least fits my needs.

  • Tesla Shareholders Approve Musk's $56 Billion Pay Package in Early Voting
  • Insane. No one person should have, or deserve, 56 billion dollars. And especially this piece of shit.

  • Linux best
  • It’s always funny when people find the single metric that seems to validate their argument without looking at the rest of the picture. There are 70% Gold and Platinum which means that 70% of those being tested work on Linux.

Yes it’s not perfect. I never once said it was. I simply said those games which have been benchmarked and compared as apples to apples are proven to run better on Linux. And somehow that triggered you into a red herring argument about the viability of Linux gaming because you think that it’s a worthless endeavor.

But, I replied to you in your thread refuting what you said. And you clearly have the intention of being combative about it instead of saying “you know what…you’re right there is a ton of progress that has been made, but for me I’ll stick with what I know.” And let that be the end of it. So I’ll bow out of this pointless conversation.

You do whatever you wish, I’m not interested in swaying you. We won’t agree. It’s okay. I’m sure I’ll go on living and enjoying the freedom of my choices.

    Good bye.

  • Linux best
  • I have yet to play a game in the past few years that doesn’t run perfectly thanks to Proton and the work Glorious Eggroll is doing. The only games that won’t play are the ones requiring kernel level anti cheat (which is a ridiculous requirement in the first place).

Something tells me you haven’t tried to play games on Linux in the past few years. So I can understand your point of view given that probable inexperience. However, I have been a user of all three OSes for decades and am not a zealot, and the fact that you think I am is enough for me to not waste any more time here.

Enjoy. I know I will, without Windows in my life now.
