Back to science fiction: I just started A Deepness In The Sky by Vernon Vinge, book 2 of his Zones Of Thought trilogy. I liked the first book a lot so looking forward to this.

If a country makes it legal to criminally prosecute girls who seek an abortion, and the same country makes it legal to allow police enforcement to demand tech companies to handover their data, maybe the problem is the country and its laws, more than Facebook.

Places like Reddit or Twitter become progressively worse as they get more popular.
Besides, Mastodon is not a replacement of Twitter. It has the same UI and look&feel but it's very different. Twitter is basically a place where internet celebrities post and other people comment and share. Mastodon is more like regular chaps hanging out and exchanging opinions.
All third party app developers have been calm, reasonable, professional and level headed through the entire process.
