When I read about dialogues with AI, where people try to get life advice, support, and therapy from the algorithm, I'm reminded of this photograph.
  • From experience, people who tend to do this wouldn't understand the issue even if they spent all the time in the world reading the email chain, or attending the meeting.

That's what gives them a false sense that AI is helping, because AI is as good as themselves with comprehension and then saying plausible things that aren't real. On the upside, it takes 2 seconds instead of an hour.

  • Skills
  • A lot of people feel like screaming lately I'm sure, lots of extreme events going on.

Anyways, I never heard of pixelfed and tried looking up your account, but I think it forced me to login so not sure if I'll create an account.

  • Skills
  • I've seen people putting up things in all sort of places so I'm not positioned to make a choice for you.

You could do a separate Instagram/tik-tok etc account or even personal one.

Or imgur/mastodon account, or a social service you don't currently use.

Or a new sub in your favorite Lemmy instance. And many more ways to do it.

  • Skills
  • Oh yes you can have an amazing original idea, but lack the skills or the time to make it a timeless art work. A piece of the artist's soul is in there since the first doodle, and it's a privilege to get to peek at it.

  • Skills
  • These are cool.

Do you have a place where you upload your stuff to? If you do, with your permission, I'd like to add it to my can library of fresh wallpapers, so it would show up in my laptop and phone background when a new one gets uploaded.

    It's this project: https://www.amazingdomain.net/

Note that the Android app can't be downloaded right now, but I have my own test version.

  • Google is shutting down Android Instant Apps over ‘low’ usage
  • Any app can be a bloated web page with or without pwa.

Instant apps were a really cool concept that never got traction because documentation was negative - those cases where every single bit of information you find, most of it is outdated and the updated one, if exists, is not to be found.

Many times since the beta release I had discussions about these, and I've known people seasoned in Android native trying to pull off a basic proof of concept and unable to get started.

  • Yesterday instead of biking I went for a walk

I'm on track to use my bike every 2 years now. I've got my count down at 726 days.

I just didn't have enough time to get the bike off the lock between work and cooking, while I can start my walk within 60 seconds of stopping working. And that includes unpacking my ukelele for playing while walking. Bikes and ukes don't go along well.

    Cleaned our bikes today

It's probably 2 years since anyone in the house used our bikes.

Tires all flat, but the brakes were still sharp and didn't need re work. But it was funny seeing that my son totally outgrew his bike, we need to get a new one.

We went for one quick test around the block, and no minor adjustments, so we followed up with a 10 minute tour.

Wishing next time will be less than 2 years from now.

    Started Tai chi today

Relaxing and challenging. It's in the morning, I wonder if it was in the afternoon, would it be a good prep for sleep time?

    Planted a couple seeds today

    Poppy, lettuce and dwarf sunflower.

It's summer here and I hope this time it works. Last half a dozen things I planted never started growing, I think I'm watering the seeds too much.

Something is growing and I didn't plan it

I think I dropped seeds here many months ago.

Not the first time I see something growing that I don't recognise. I guess we have to settle for what the plants want instead of what I'd like to grow.
