There are Minimum Wages, Why Not a Maximum Wage?
  • What would be the point in amassing more wealth when its capped? At that wealth no matter what you do, its not gonna get less really if you invested into things. How does that solve any of the problems we have in society?

  • Cookie banner
  • Nice, I used "I don't care about cookies" for a while which just accepted or hid the pop-up and then blocked tracking locally. They got bought out by some corpo tho so I stopped using them.

  • How is it that Germany and Japan can maintain good urban planning despite being home to some of the largest car companies?
  • Honestly germans seem to love to dunk on their own infrastructure. Pedestrian, bicycle and public transport infrastructure truly is on another level compared to the US. Why this is the case? I believe its because cities where already in place when the car was invented. In the US they were built for the car as a mode of transport when European cities where built in a way that was a lot more pedestrian friendly.

While the punctuality of DB (German railway operator is a mess) local regional trains can be pretty consistent and overall cities have a well built out priority, since we had to accommodate for so many peoples transport withoutbeingg able to built them as car friendly since the urban centers where already built. while the funding somewhat lacks today, this made public transport also an important thing people look out for.

Bicycle infrastructure can also be hit or miss depending in the region, but generally it is also on the radar of planners and there's plenty of routes, although they're nothing like the Netherlands.

Germans also really like shitting on their own country and being really critical which comes with its own upsides and downsides. For rural areas the car is definitely really important for getting around tho

  • Got banned from ml and made a meme about it. Thought you guys might appreciate.
  • I haven't used lemmy up until this point. They pose as a general purpose instance and are the 2nd largest lemmy instance at that. I knew the lemmy devs had their preferences but I didn't know they would let it effect their moderating so strongly.

  • Average World News.ml modlog
  • This is a sad but hilarious read at the same time. Ml just digging their own grave to irrelevance. Also, what banning argument is "horseshoe theory". They say it like its a completely invalid disgusting thing. They might just not wanna be associated with the right but the autocratic tendencies are the same!

Since I was curious I checked the actual amount of upvotes and downvotes of my post on mbin. It got 56 upvotes and 66 downvotes according to them since I was curious. Seems I hurt their little ego when I mentioned blocking their instance.

So Starbucks’ CEO commutes to work by private jet? Let’s not pretend the super-rich care about the planet
  • Let me give you one example: Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia. He gave the company away to a non-profit 2022 making him no longer a billionaire. Patagonia gives 1% of its total sales to environmental groups and he started the company himself by selling hand-forged mountain climbing gear. Just because people don't make the negative headlines doesn't mean generalizing is a good idea, even if such high positions are more likely to have people with sociopathic tendencies as ruthlessness in business is often rewarded.

  • Got banned after commenting how sick I am of seeing those type of "memes" on ml

For more context: I already had the communism and lefty communites blocked. I'd consider myself middle-left of the political spectrum but personally don't believe in some grand revolution saving us all. Most left communities on here seem to far out there for my personal taste at least. My comment is deleted but if you wanna see the post here's the link.
