Probably something that makes it even harder and more confusing to understand in context, so I'm gonna say he calls them "texts"
Took a peek and it doesn't look like there's any recent posts on /r/gifs ? Like, sort by new and everything other that 5 reddit is killing itself posts is at least 19 days old. What's up with that?
I believe I did this, but I'll have to check. Pretty sure they'll be resurrecting my comments shortly anyway, since without the users' content they have nothing to sell, so I'll have another chance to make sure they're all edited.
I find it incredible how different I feel about certain books/series now vs how I felt about them 15 or 20 years ago. What sort of major changes have happened to your tastes during your fantasy journey?
I used to own every single Wheel of Time book and spent all my time on wotmania.com, but I have zero desire to read them ever again. Honestly, classic epic fantasy just doesn't do it for me in general anymore.
I don't tend to get excited about the next Brandon Sanderson novel, but I was a huge proponent of him when he was signing copies of Elantris in my tiny Idaho mall.
It'd be great if Rothfuss, Lynch or Martin finished their series, but I used to rant and rave about wanting them and now I just move on to things that are done. I can wait, and in the case of Rothfuss I'm not 100% sure those books are going to finish nearly as strongly as I first thought.
I haven't had this problem yet, to be honest. I did have a free library go down recently that I'd had for years (sad days), but the one that I'm giving about $7/month to is working just fine.
A friendly place for members of the Latter Day Saint Movement, including members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Come share news, ask questions, bear testimony, discuss life, and generally be religious together.
This is the one. You honestly won't need another.
I don't see any comments right now, but I believe you're right. I'm leaving my account open until reddit re-opens all the private subs, then I'll do it again.

Be sure to remove as much as you can and heavily encourage heavy contributors to delete their comment history. They have no value without our data.
Here I am! Deleted all 1700+ comments from my account today and I'll check back to make sure Reddit doesn't try to reinstate them.
Same here. Removed 1700 comments today. Waiting to see what happens there.
Totally correct. It'll take a while, but the quality will absolutely drop. And even though 3rd party apps represent a small percentage of Reddit users, I'd bet that people who are engaged and participate enough to get a third party app for their phone (many of which required payment to block ads) are the same people providing a lot of the quality content that makes Reddit successful. When the people who produce the good content leave, then it's only a matter of time before everyone else follows.
It's digg all over again, for those of us pioneers old enough to remember our first migration.
I think we might be talking about the same thing. My water filtration system is sitting under my bathroom sink, but the drinking water comes out of a tiny hole that we drilled (same as your soap dispenser) and a small spigot that came with the system. It's great, right?
We're probably going to add a line to our fridge from it soon, since it is old and doesn't have a water dispenser on the fridge, but does make ice cubes
By and large I don't feel the need to go back to reddit, as I can get the news and other things either here or in different places. There are a few very specific subs that I'll probably visit from time to time on desktop, but I'll never use that garbage reddit app.
Under the sink water filtration system. We spent maybe $300 on ours and couldn't be happier. Clear, clean tasting water where before it was sketchy at best (farm country) and no more need to fill up the Brita pitcher every single day. Took maybe an hour to set up.
Yep, steamdeck here, and once it's fully set up it's a great machine for emulation. I honestly don't notice that it's too heavy. Just re-adjust how you're sitting or laying down or whatever I guess? Maybe put a pillow on your lap to give your arms some support? Not sure what the answer is there, but steamdeck is a great route to go.
The trouble with Lemmy as an alternative to reddit, or ANY place as an alternative to reddit, is that eventually the server costs are going to rack up and it'll either shut down or have to ask more and more for payment. I'm okay paying, but a lof of people probably aren't. We'll see how all this unfolds in the coming months.
Totally understand this. I'm working on setting up my steam deck, and decided to go the Windows only route with it. Well, the main place for all things windows on the steamdeck is reddit. Youtube's search means it's a needle in a haystack for specific questions I have, since the overwhelming majority of people using the steamdeck are using SteamOS on it. It's really put me at a loss when it comes to getting answers, until that sub comes back up. I just hope that data can be migrated somewhere else, since I don't want to support reddit but I DO want to engage heavily with that community.
It'd be nice to start a thread that has a lot of info for people who are looking for reviews or recommendations.
For instance, https://sff180.com/ does a solid job, particularly with their youtube channel, of keeping me informed about books that are coming out. Where do you go for your info?
