Bad feature of late-stage capitalism somehow gets worse

i guess my point is that I understand why the researchers are doing it - the UN gave them money to research ways the UN could use AI, so that is what they did. It's not like the research is unethical in the sense that it directly harms participants. Maybe it's a dumb waste of money, but at that point, the question is more for the UN leaders that said "we should give someone money to research AI". And I don't know that 404 Media has the pull to interview those people.
definitely licensing issues, 100%. The record company owns the old song and doesn't want to allow it in the game again, at least not for a reasonable price. Could the artists re-record songs to bypass the record company, like Taylor Swift did? Yeah sure, but only if they are still around, and only if they care that much about being in the Tony Hawk remake. Re-recording songs includes re-doing all the mixing and mastering, and that is a decent chunk of time and money for essentially no return on investment. Most of the bands in original Tony Hawk that are still around are pretty focused on ROI at this point.
I feel like the article answers the question, or rather it gives the researchers a chance to answer the question:
When I spoke with them, both Albrecht and Fournier-Tombs were clear that the goal of the workshop was to spark conversation and deal with the technology now, as it is.
“We’re not proposing these as solutions for the UN, much less UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). We’re just playing around with the concept,” Albrecht said. “You have to go on a date with someone to know you don’t like ‘em.”
Fournier-Tombs said that it’s important for the UN to get a handle on AI and start working through the ethical problems with it. “There’s a lot of pressure everywhere, not just at the UN, to adopt AI systems to become more efficient and do more with less,” she said. “The promise of AI is always that it can save money and help us accomplish the mission…there’s a lot of tricky ethical concerns with that.”
She also said that the UN can’t afford to be reactive when it comes to new technology. “Someone’s going to deploy AI agents in a humanitarian context, and it’s going to be with a company, and there won’t be any real principles or thought, consideration, of what should be done,” she said. “That’s the context we presented the conversation in.”
The goal of the experiment, Albrecht said, was always to provoke an emotional reaction and start a conversation about these ethical concerns.
“You create a kind of straw man to see how people attack it and understand its vulnerabilities.”
So if you read the headline and have the obvious visceral reaction, if you are asking yourself that question from the article, it kind of sounds like that is the point. They're doing it now so that if people see it and say "that's stupid", hopefully that stops xAI or someone else from trying this to profit on the suffering of poor people. Alternatively, if people see it and say "wow this actually helped me understand", that is also useful for the world at large. It doesn't sound like the latter is the case, but that's why you test a hypothesis.

COGconnected - Stephan Adamus - 85 / 100
>Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is an excellent sequel. It has the smooth skateboard gameplay we all know and love, with tons of features and modes.

ComingSoon.net - Tyler Treese - 9 / 10
>Iron Galaxy has done a great job of recreating some classic stages, creating their own, and really nailing the spirit of these games. Tony Hawk has never looked or played better, and I can't wait to see where the franchise goes from here.

Everyeye.it - Italian - 8.3 / 10
>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is a must-see for those who grew up on skateboarding (whether enjoyed or played first-hand).

GAMES.CH - Olaf Bleich - German - 87%
>"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4" certainly impressed in our review and recreates the feel of the game "back in the day." At the same time, it offers more substance, especially in the long run. In addition to a whole host of unlockables, there are many advanced features, including multiplayer and pro options, online leaderboards, and the park editor. These should keep experts entertained for a long time to come.

Game8 - Michael Gerra-Clarin - 80 / 100
>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is nostalgic fever dream that is an upgrade in more ways than one, despite it not being completely faithful to the original games.
-------------
>Though it trips up a bit in its Career mode, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 still manages to deliver a marvelous game of skate.
-------------
>Some remakes simply have the 'money-spinner' label stuck to their foreheads, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 exudes passion through every pore. One could argue that it takes too few risks, but that's a small criticism for such a great game. This second update is pure fun. It's pure arcade fun, with an addictive formula, new cards for the first time in 15 successful years, and an abundance of cosmetics to unlock. A must for fans of the franchise.

Gameliner - Rudy Wijnberg - Dutch - 4 / 5
>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is a content-rich and finely tuned remake that thrills fans and newcomers alike, though it lacks the impact and innovation of its predecessor.
-------------
IGN - Luke Reilly - 8 / 10
>Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 proves yet again the series’ over-the-top skateboarding formula is totally timeless, even if some of the changes to THPS4 miss the mark and the soundtrack has been fumbled.
-------------
IGN Spain - Rafa Del Río - Spanish - 8 / 10
>True to its original philosophy, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 returns with a fresh look, featuring numerous changes and improvements that remind us why the series was the king of the genre for years. Beyond its free skating, challenges, combos, moves, and visual enhancements, this comeback is pure, unadulterated love for the world of skateboarding. Iron Galaxy brings back the roguelike format of the first episodes and invites us to crush the stages over and over again to become the best skaters with a range of modes and challenges, competitions, and free skating that is very difficult to resist.
-------------
Impulsegamer - Gareth Newnham - 4 / 5
>A solid remake that doesn't quite stick the landing thanks to some bewildering soundtrack choices
-------------
NintendoWorldReport - Neal Ronaghan - 9 / 10
>While the 1+2 remake was excellent, Activision's track record with the series since the mid-2000s has been spotty at best. I'm thrilled that the skateboarding in this game feels just as good as it did 20+ years ago and that this goes beyond just a simple remake, with so many fun and enjoyable post-game challenges that builds off of the foundation. Something is lost in Tony Hawk 4's transition to the 2-minute timer, but I still had a great time saving Painter Neal from the shark in San Francisco. And the quality of the original levels Iron Galaxy made makes me hopeful for the future of the series, whether it leads to a brand new game or an attempt at remaking Tony Hawk's Underground. Regardless of whether or not you bring nostalgic baggage for the format from the fourth game, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is an excellent video game that will keep you kickflipping and reverting to increasingly higher scores for a long time.
-------------
Shacknews - Asif Khan - 9 / 10
>Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is a faithful recreation of two pivotal entries in the franchise’s storied history. While some fans may be waiting for remakes of Tony Hawk’s Underground, I am happy to finally get my hands on a remake of my favorite game in series history.
-------------
TechRaptor - Andrew Stretch - 9.5 / 10
>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is a faithful recreation of the original with all of the bells and whistles of a modern-day port. Smoother gameplay, new levels, and new goals make this a perfect THPS game for new and old fans alike.
-------------
The Games Machine - Gabriele Barducci - Italian - 8.5 / 10
>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is a great remake. While it plays on nostalgia, the collection also takes advantage of all the skills you can practice during your gaming sessions. The camera issues still persist.
-------------
Worth Playing - Cody Medellin - 8 / 10
>Overall, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is an absolutely fun title if your main exposure to the series was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2. You're essentially getting more of the same, but the formula was already solid enough that getting more of what you know in newer locations is a good thing. The conclusion is more complicated if you were an aficionado of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. With the types of changes and omissions made, a portion of the game feels more like it was inspired by the fourth mainline entry in the series rather than a remake or remastering effort. Purists will be disappointed by these decisions. If you aren't bothered by the changes, you'll find this to be a very good title overall.
-------------
XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 8.8 / 10
>Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is a brilliant package only marred by a loss of 4's story mode charm.

i gotta say...if i lived in Corpus Christi, I would be panicking if I read this headline. Like I would immediately start planning a move.
there are apparently a few cases where they didn't get the same song, but they got a new song from the same artists. But yeah...it's a bummer from a game preservation perspective
Other songs from artists featured in THPS 3 + 4 have been included in some cases…

I seem to remember even FF7 allowing this.
Question: what would happen if the server implemented something like Anubis on the application and/or create post pages? Would that not block most bots from completing these forms? Is that just not feasible at our scale?

Yeah I hear that a lot, I tried to speed run ARR but just ran out of motivation before I got there 😔
Only one thing has brought me sincere joy in logging on since Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover in October 2022: Orc City.

I played for a lil while, trying to get into it to play with my friends. The only MMO i've gotten DEEP into was the original Guild Wars, and that is obviously a bit different from other MMOs, so I wasn't sure if it would be my cup of tea. I ended up falling off before finishing the base Realm Reborn MSQ. I found the same problem I always have with MMOs - the initial loop is really fun and addicting and I'm enjoying learning the world, but then I hit a point where doing the quests just feels like a slog to endgame. I did some dungeons with my friends once that was possible, and it mostly just felt like I was struggling to keep up with something that everyone else had done 50 times over already. It stunk that I had to do story quests solo, and could only really party up for dungeons. Much preferred the GW experience of playing the MSQ together.
Idk, I'm not trying to trash on the game, I can tell it's really well made and I'm happy for all y'all. It just didn't resonate for me.
This snip at the end is so good:
Iaso said she thinks AI companies follow her work, and that if they really want to stop her and Anubis they just need to distract her.
“If you are working at an AI company, here's how you can sabotage Anubis development as easily and quickly as possible,” she wrote on her site. “So first is quit your job, second is work for Square Enix, and third is make absolute banger stuff for Final Fantasy XIV. That’s how you can sabotage this the best.”
A remake of FF9 is reportedly in development…

That's fair! Well most people saw Rogue One before Andor, so it isn't like it ruins the show or anything.
Virtuos compares Switch 2 power to Xbox Series S…

I'm excited to get that far! The exploration of the docks in Season 2 was really interesting.
Not at all! If you have seen the original 6 Star Wars movies, you will understand every important reference in the show. There are always easter eggs like any big franchise show or movie, but almost nothing that actually adds to your understanding of the plot. If you haven't seen Rogue One yet, I highly recommend saving it and watching it after finishing the show, as the show is all of the events leading up to the beginning of Rogue One.
Oh man. Well I started watching The Wire recently for the first time, and holy MOLY is that a good show. Lots of layers of moral complexity and flawed characters and smart criminals. Really loving every bit of it so far.
Almost through Season 2 of Star Wars: Andor. Andor S01 was probably my favorite Star Wars ever (and i've seen most of it), and Season 2 is amazing so far. Kind of similar to The Wire, actually, but focused on characters doing crime for the purpose of rebellion, instead of just trying to get money or status. This season has things to say about empires committing genocide, and that really resonates in this particular moment. Just amazing writing all around, not perfect but pretty damn close.
And like everyone: The Bear. Currently just rewatching Season 3, and this is the weakest of the first 3 seasons, but it's still just really good TV. Funny, witty, intense, and every shot is visually-stunning. The show reminds you that family and community is what we need to hold each other up, and I'm really loving that rn personally.
My partner really loves The Pitt! What are you feeling about it? Were you someone that watched ER?
Hey could you try to preserve the headline from the original source when sharing links here? Plz and thank youuuuuuuu
I agree that banking the money is probably the wisest move rn. I love the idea of Beehaw funding some kind of initiative in the future, but i don't know if the surplus is big enough to pursue something like that yet. Also - if the admins wanted to use the surplus to pay someone like PenguinCoder a little compensation for their substantial labor contribution to Beehaw, I wouldn't be opposed to that.
Seperating from my opinion of the headline - this shit fucking sucks. Just in general I hate the current state of the housing market, with large corporations buying up homes and renting them out or then sitting on them for tax breaks. Not shocking that these fuckers are also taking advantage of people that have just gone through terrible loss and disaster. Just sucks that these sharks are swimming in the waters and no one is doing anything about it.
I think that specific piece is going to vary from group to group for sure. My group is all pretty inexperienced with rpgs and not taking it very seriously, so that might be part of why we can go on a looser schedule. We don't have tons of details to hold together, at least not yet.
i mean...they already have the versions with e/OS? Does that not fit that bill?

>Currently Rematch feels like an early access game. Great engaging gameplay is paired with wonky servers and lack of basic features.
-------------
Areajugones - Alfonso Cánovas - Spanish - 7.5 / 10
>Rematch has everything it needs to become the ultimate arcade soccer game, but it's in desperate need of a technical overhaul. The ideas are there, the fun is there, but the issues overshadow the virtues. Hopefully, with a patch or future updates, the game will resume after this hydration break, or else we'll be forced to go to overtime.
-------------
Checkpoint Gaming - Wil Bain - 8 / 10
>Rematch is a wonderful reinterpretation of football with just enough innovation to make the sport its own. Thanks to an amazing gameplay loop and beautiful art style, every match has been unforgettably fun. Unfortunately, some current issues with server performance and limited, restrictive content stop Rematch from becoming a must buy. Still, anyone looking for a hot new multiplayer game like nothing else should keep a close eye on Rematch's future.
-------------
Comunidad Xbox - Mario Vadillo - Spanish - 84 / 100
>Sloclap and Kepler Interactive want us to play soccer as a team, albeit in a rather crazy arcade style. Despite its fast and frenetic pace, the game will require us to be good at passing, attack and defense strategies, and, of course, teamwork in order to beat our opponents.
-------------
Console Creatures - David Pietrangelo - 8 / 10
>Rematch does a great job of creating a fun and rewarding skill-based sports game while providing a challenge and promoting teamwork.

Dexerto - Nathan Warby - 4 / 5

Digitale Anime - Raouf Belhamra - Arabic - 8.5 / 10
>"Football reimagined with style" >Rematch is a bold, refreshing take on football with an arcade feel. The studio has clearly succeeded in integrating the precision of fighting games into the world of football, resulting in a fast-paced and dynamic experience. Its engaging gameplay makes up for some of its shortcomings, particularly in the variety of modes. With continued support, Rematch could make a significant impact on the competitive multiplayer arena.
-------------
DualShockers - Callum Marshall - 6.5 / 10
>I thought for all the world that this game would be a championship contender, but as it turns out, it's just relegation fodder.

EvelonGames - Joel Isern Rodríguez - Kaym - Spanish - 8.8 / 10
>Rematch is that type of game that makes you forget to breathe in crucial moments. Despite its current technical problems and lack of content, the playable foundation is so solid that it's easy to forgive its flaws. It's a title that understands that football, in essence, is about teamwork, strategy, and those moments of individual brilliance that emerge within collective play.
-------------
Everyeye.it - Italian - 7.5 / 10
>Ultimately, our encounter with Rematch gave us generally positive feelings. Sloclap has reinterpreted the rules of the game of soccer, declining them in a game context that is all about pure fun, free from all the complications that have occurred in the greatest exponents of the genre in recent years.
-------------
GRYOnline.pl - Dawid Norkowski - Polish - 7.5 / 10
>Rematch is an interesting game. Even losing a match makes you want to try again, and when you team up with players that like to cooperate, it can be one of the most beautiful gaming experiences. I think even gamers not keen on football can find lots of fun here.
-------------
GameSpace - Brau3er - 8.5 / 10
>The creators of Sifu have made a game even for those who don't like sports. In mid-April, testing of Rematch began, and at that time, the peak number of online players on Steam exceeded 120,000, and some gamers are already calling the new game the future of virtual football. As soon as the game is released, it has every chance of becoming the new gaming discovery of the year. Despite some minor flaws, REMACH is a game that definitely deserves attention. With these shortcomings addressed, it could become a real hit, winning the hearts of millions of players.
-------------
GameSpot - Richard Wakeling - 7 / 10
>Rematch takes a refreshing, skill-based approach to football games that can be just as frustrating as it is thrilling
-------------
>Sloclap has undeniably conquered new territory with Rematch. In fact, the studio has pulled off a remarkable feat in renewing an ultra-codified genre to create a much freer, more tactical and technical experience that is truly exhilarating. Soccer is frenetically redesigned in a highly addictive arcade style. The game's entry is therefore a success, but it will take exemplary endurance over the long term for the formula to continue to be effective. If the promises of additional content live up to expectations, we could well be looking at one of the new kings of football.
-------------
Gameliner - Bram Noteboom - Dutch - 4 / 5
>Sloclap’s Rematch kicks off with exotic flair and gripping gameplay that brilliantly balances tactical depth and arcade action for hours of fun, but while it scores high on innovation and replayability, flaws in matchmaking, sparse battle pass content, and chaotic random teammates blow the whistle on what could’ve been a Ballon d'Or-worthy football game—though with a few solid seasons, it might still become the undisputed champion of the genre.
-------------
Gamer Social Club - Nathan Lockhart - 7 / 10
>This game makes me fall in love with football and I’m simply not a sports person. Its fast paced action forces you to think fast on the field and really think deeply about your next button input. Its art style, vast customization options, and gameplay make this game one you won’t forget anytime soon. I sincerely hope we start to see other iterations of this game play style sports games from more developers. But due to a few flaws, the need for further polishing, and approachability, it makes me second guess recommending it to just anyone. I can however highly recommend picking this game up and testing the waters for yourself to see if its for you.
-------------
Gamers Heroes - Blaine Smith - 75 / 100
>While Rematch suffers from a lack of cooperative or competitive tools at release, the foundations are in place for an exciting football experience for many years to come – all without paying for a single stupid card pack.
-------------
>For football enthusiasts, Rematch is certainly worth a try, but for those looking to dive deep, it may not be the right fit for most players. Its mechanics and systems lean far more toward the hardcore end of the spectrum compared to something like FIFA, turning even seemingly simple actions into daunting tasks. While the skill ceiling is impressively high, reaching it requires a serious investment of time and dedication.
-------------
GamesCreed - Wasbir Sadat - 4 / 5
>REMATCH‘s graphics and sound are great, and the core gameplay is great, especially when you work together well and know how to use your hands well. If you can look past its flaws and decide to learn how to play, REMATCH is a very fun soccer game, especially if you have friends to play with.

>Rematch is a very fun game but also an experiment that still needs more ideas to coalesce into a greater whole.
-------------
GamingBolt - Varun Karunakar - 8 / 10
>Rematch does a good job of providing a bite-sized arcade football experience that's backed by smooth performance and simple controls, making it easy to pick up and play. While its early access period brought matchmaking issues and a bit of lag to the table, SloClap has committed to resolving these issues in future updates. As it stands, Rematch is certainly worth a go, for both casual and veteran football fans.
-------------
Hobby Consolas - Daniel Quesada - Spanish - 72 / 100
>We already applaud Sloclap's approach to offering football matches that are out of the ordinary. When they work, they're irresistible, but the catalog of options needs more depth and more robust online servers.
-------------
IGN Italy - Alessandro Digioia - Italian - 7.5 / 10
>Rematch brings a bold twist to a genre that's been playing it safe for too long, offering a fast, stylish, and skill-driven take on football. Its gameplay is both accessible and surprisingly deep, turning every match into a highlight reel. Still, technical hiccups, balancing issues, and missing features like crossplay and offline modes keep it from reaching its full potential. Sloclap has built something great, and with the right support, Rematch could grow into a true standout in the genre.
-------------
IGN Spain - Mario Seijas - Spanish - 8 / 10
>Rematch feels like a breeze of fresh air, a real gift for football fans. With simple mechanics that are difficult to master, you can be the star of heart-stopping matches that, as usual, are much more enjoyable with friends.
-------------
Just Play it - Aimen TAIB - Arabic - 8 / 10
>Rematch offers a highly enjoyable arcade-style multiplayer football experience when played with friends. The game doesn't follow real-world football rules, but unfortunately, it suffers from limited content, making the Platinum trophy the real challenge. Moreover, it is plagued by annoying technical issues and broken trophies. Still, we recommend it to football fans—provided they play it with friends as part of a well-coordinated team.
-------------
Loot Level Chill - Kieran Singh - 7 / 10
>Rematch is a good time but it really is a game of two halves: amazing with friends, but frustrating beyond belief with random players.
-------------
Lords Of Gaming - Mahmood Ghaffar - 7.7 / 10
>Make no mistake, Rematch has an incredible and unique football gameplay loop that is unlike anything I have ever tried before. There are a lot of nuances in the animations and regular duels that make the game an irresistible package. However, it is let down by initial networking hiccups and a lack of modes and content. Luckily, it seems that Slopclap is in it for the long run, which should make Rematch a footballing star in no time.
-------------
Metro GameCentral - Steve Boxer - 7 / 10
>A clever and hugely enjoyable online team game, even at this early stage in its career -although it feels more like a rival to Rocket League than EA Sports FC.
-------------
Multiplayer.it - Luca Forte - Italian - 8 / 10
>There is no option to create your own club or customize your own arena, let alone the ability to make team leagues or organize tournaments. A real shame.
-------------
NoobFeed - Zahra Morshed - 81 / 100
>REMATCH is a project bursting with potential but bogged down by its ambition. It dares to ask what football would feel like if built from the ground up around real-time, manual control. The result is a mechanically deep, team-centric, emotionally engaging football sim wrapped in an arcade presentation. However, it also suffers from rushed execution, limited offline content, server instability, and a live-service shell that doesn't yet justify its price tag.
-------------
PC Gamer - Justin Wagner - 86 / 100
>A heart-pumping genre superlative that should not be missed despite some technical issues to sort out.
-------------
PCMGAMES - José Miguel Rodríguez Ros - Spanish - Recommended
>Rematch is a breath of fresh air in soccer games, with a fun, fast-paced arcade style and lots of potential. But it's also a demanding game, with complex controls and a steep learning curve. Plus, the lack of cross-play and various bugs detract from its brilliance in other areas. If you're willing to overlook some issues and put in the time, you'll end up hooked.
-------------
PlayStation Universe - James Davie - 7 / 10
>If you're in the mood for some solid multiplayer football, REMATCH is certainly a good effort that you'll be happy to attempt to master thanks to intricate controls, and the bite-sized sessions that throw the rule book away for the sake of fluidity and fun.
-------------
Press Start - Brodie Gibbons - 7 / 10
>Were it a bit more feature complete and fine-tuned, Rematch would be undeniable in its claim for Rocket League’s long-held crown. There’s a high, albeit achievable, skill ceiling here, but intuitive controls means anybody can header, rainbow flick, or bicycle kick goals from the box’s edge in short, exhilarating, and most importantly, moreish games of soccer.
-------------
Pure Xbox - Fraser Gilbert - 8 / 10
>Rematch is an addictive blend of Rocket League and real football that's sure to prove a hit on Xbox Game Pass and beyond. The difficult controls might put some people off in the early hours, but its "just one more game" feel should keep most playing beyond the teething period - and that's when it really comes into its own. The developers have done a fantastic job with this one, and I can't wait to see how it evolves in the weeks, months and years to come.
-------------
Push Square - Stephen Tailby - 7 / 10
>Rematch is very close to being a brilliant online sports title, and we're confident it can reach its full potential with the right updates and post-launch support. The gameplay has depth, and successful team play is super rewarding. Once it gets past its early teething issues, this has real potential to take off.
-------------
Rectify Gaming - Will "FncWill" Hogeweide - 7.5 / 10
>Rematch is a soccer sim with arcade soul, a competitive beast dressed in cleats, and an early access title that could very well score big, if it keeps its foot on the gas and listens to its fans. For now, it’s not quite the beautiful game, but it’s definitely a beautiful start.
-------------
Spaziogames - Italian - 7.3 / 10
>If Sloclap can rightfully be considered a small forge of ideas, then Rematch is undoubtedly its most ambitious project to date. However, this ambition, when confronted with the reality of execution, sees the game struggling to shine as brightly as hoped-at least initially. That said, it provides a solid foundation to build upon, update after update, with the goal of engaging and growing a community-something that is essential for a project of this kind.
-------------
TechRaptor - Ashleigh Klein - 7 / 10
>Rematch evokes the nostalgic feelings of the glorious FIFA Street days by revitalizing arcade football with casual and ranked multiplayer modes that allow players to delve in. While the developer has future content planned for the game, the game is being marred by a myriad of technical issues that impact gameplay and server stability, but they are being proactive with patch updates that hopefully add that luster before the season ends.
-------------
The Beta Network - Anthony Culinas - 8 / 10
>A worthy alternative to FC—Rematch is fast, flashy and endlessly replayable. Let’s just hope Sloclap doesn’t red card the momentum with bad post-launch support.
-------------
The Games Machine - Pietro Iacullo - Italian - 8.5 / 10
>Rematch is a new and fresh page in the Football (Soccer, for US readers) Video Game History. Slocap has to add some of the lacking feature, especially cross-platform multiplayer, but the game is really challenging and it can become a massive hit.
-------------
TheSixthAxis - Aran Suddi - 6 / 10
>Rematch can be fun in bursts and over time it should grow to have a decent community. The emphasis on player skill over unlocking perks and skill points is refreshing, but can be hindered by the control scheme and camera. Some issues also need to be sorted too. Rematch is a nice distraction as an arcadey football game, and it has its place, but it is a small club that needs to build over time to challenge the bigger ones.
-------------
Try Hard Guides - Erik Hodges - 9 / 10
>Rematch stands as a rare and bold attempt to faithfully translate real-world soccer (or football) into the online competitive gaming space—and it pulls it off really well. Though it can feel rather punishing to learn, this competitive game is there for anyone looking to experience the thrill of a real-world sport in an online space.

>It’s too early to understand the ramifications REMATCH might possibly have on the industry as we won’t be able to see them for 5-10 years. Sloclap proves you don’t need to follow trends, but can set your own. That studios don’t always need to play it safe with sequels or known IP, that studios can sustain themselves with unique ideas, smaller teams, and it shows that live service success can be found when done right. > >REMATCH has obvious Rocket League inspiration, but in the football genre that has largely been dominated by EA for decades with minimal competition, REMATCH is a disrupting the norm and the early sales prove it. REMATCH is unique, innovative, demands skill, but most importantly, fun.

>I love how solid it feels, whether I'm between the pipes or out on the pitch, and how intense the matches can get whether I'm playing the ranked 5v5 mode or the more casual 3v3. But the lack of content, poor design choices, and a lacking art style combined with a slow-progressing battle pass-like structure and less-than-inspired unlockable cosmetics cut the whole package of Rematch at its knees.

>In the end Sloclap has unintentionally put a lot of roadblocks in the way of both your ability to enjoy and desire to purchase Rematch, but behind all that is one of the best feeling soccer games ever made waiting to blossom and be discovered, as long as you can see past those roadblocks and don’t mind paying up front for the potential this game has for the future.

>It’s soccer by way of the fighting game genre: twitchy, intense, and one mistake away from disaster. For me, someone who isn’t a soccer fan, I can appreciate what this game is doing but for fans of this form of football I know you will vibe with Rematch.
